Looks like you called it. It's the LC9. Looks like a beefier LCP. Gotta wonder two things though: (1) Will it be available for civilians in Kalifornia? And (2) When will the first recall be and what will it be for?

They're gunning for a roster approval. It has a LCI (which I think they copied straight from the SR9, which is rostered) and mag disconnect. They just needs to pass the "drop test" and pay the fine, and it's good to go.

I actually like it. MSRP is only $440, so the real price will be in the low-mid 3's easily. We can't get Kel-Teks easily and Kahr is expensive, so this is a good option for a "pocket" sized 9mm.

Hmm... my LCR may be going up for sale if the LC9 gets on the roster.

Ouch that's ugly! But if it gets on the roster and seems reliable, I'll have to think about getting one.

Eh, not seeing anything special about their announcement of the LC9. Just another compact, boring...

It'll be the only 1911 on the planet with a really, really crappy trigger.

And lets not forget the owner's manual printed on the slide....

And the internal locking device & loaded chamber indicator....

I own Rugers. LOVE the P series bottom feeders.
For the 1911 I'll keep my RIA thanks...

a pocket 9mm is certainly something, I may just get one once it's CA approved.

Almost as ground breaking as the last "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT." A wood stocked Mini-14. I think they gave it a heavy barrel or something...

Looks like I'll be getting this LC9 if it is small enough. I'll give my LCP to the GF.

Have you guys looked at the spec sheet for this thing? It's massive. It's nearly a full inch longer and a full inch taller than the LCP. It also weighs twice as much as the LCP. Good concept, but it is FAR from a "9mm LCP." It's very similar in dimensions to a Glock 26 except that it's a quarter of an inch narrower (that may be its only saving grace).

I am not happy with this "must have." I want my Ruger 1911 already.

It's almost as big as a Walther PPK but holds seven rounds of 9mm and weighs three ounces less, it should be a very comfortable carry gun.

I like it so far, and if it gets to the CA roster, I very well may get one.

Could be a 1911 with a MkIII grip profile.

http://michaelbane.blogspot.com/2011/01/ruger-lc9.html

I really wanted one......until I saw the stupid external safety. Why did they put this on there?!? It's also quite a bit bigger than the LCP.

Not on the Ca Roster yet, but you can have one on order

I was in the market for a pocket .380, with the LCP a top contender. Then Ruger introduced the LC9.

I orderd it from these guys:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=379868

Never owned a 9mm previously, but it sure seemed like the right decission over any .380 ACP.

And I own a Colt "Nitelite" .380, Great gun, but not too relaible (in my case at least). But with only 200 made, she'll now now rest in the safe, replaced by my new pocket 9mm...the LC9.

http://www.downrange.tv/blog/first-l...c9-video/7990/

Search it, looks to have potential...?

I'll just wait for it on the Kali roster.

Ruger's press release says "A California-approved loaded chamber indicator allows for immediate visual and tactile confirmation that the chamber is loaded."

This is exactly why I'd rather get a LCP, especially if I'm wanting a pocket-pistol for better concealability. While a Glock 26 is small, it's still pretty bulky and a good size to carry around (depending on what type of clothes you wear). For me, I like them smaller and more compact and I like the feel of the LCP and don't mind the .380 ammo, which are pretty easy to find these days at Walmart stores or online.

This looks like a complete know-brainer for my primary CCW pistol.
