Default Your camp.

What is your top favorite thing about camping.

Mine us waking up to dew on my tent and the way the air tastes.

Sitting up all night drinking coffee watching the horses. Everybody else is asleep and the whole, entire universe is mine.

Then they all leave right after breakfast for a ride and I'm alone in camp -- asleep in the hammock.

Miles of nobody around us as we BBQ, eat, drink and are merry. The skies at night and the clean morning air as the world wakes up.

I know the safety nazis will kill me for this, but there's nothing like a mag dump of .223 tracer rounds at night out of your AR with a little bit of firewater in your system. Man what a feeling!

Not seeing any other people for at least a week.
Catching my dinner.
Lounging around the campfire.
Seeing the sky filled with stars.

And a thousand other reasons.

My favorite thing about camping is no cell phones, computers, electronic devices. The days are broken down by the rising and setting of the sun,not a wristwatch or alarm clock.Food is caught/gathered not pre packaged. It makes me feel in control of and more in tune with being truly part of nature.

Good pix,problemchild!
An early morning camp breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon (ain't got no brook trout) cooked on my Coleman stove, with my doggies thrilled by the event and the wife sleeping in until she awakens to the wonderful aromas ; makes me want to pitch the tent right here in the backyard, right now!

The last few times I've "camped" it's been at the Coalinga Rifle Club. My favorite things about camping there are Joe O's cooking and waking up knowing that I'm going to be listening to the sound of 50 thunder all day.

Okay, I've got to ask if the sweatshirt really helps to keep the dog comfortable. I've got a hound mix and the last couple times we went camping he was just too cold to be comfortable at night, despite me bringing a dog bed and blankets. I've yet to try teaching him to sleep in a sleeping bag, but I could probably get him to wear a sweatshirt if it would help.

Cold beer, great food, warm campfire on a crisp night, friends and family, sounds of owls, keeping your lady warm, bacon and eggs with an extra pine needle or two, solving all the worlds problems while you're away for a week in the woods...

IMO they actually do seem to help. I used to have a dachshund (ex wife now has him, miss the little guy) that I got from the pound. He was very malnourished when we got him and had lost most of his fur as a result. After having him for 2 years and getting him healthy after a few months, he grew his fur back, but it was extremely thin. He would shiver even being inside on a cold night. We got him a few sweaters which I thought was stupid at first and I felt embarassed walking my dog with clothes on. But after seeing how it kept him warm and he was much happier, I could give a s**t what people thought. I was just glad he was comfy and happy. Look into it and if it doesn't work you are only out 20 bucks. Worth the chance to keep the pup comfy and happy IMO.

^^Where did you get the parachute type awning cover w/poles?^^

The only thing about camping I don't like is the quick trip, one or two days, it's a lot of work for short ventures.

I like the early rise, getting the coffee started, stoking the fire, the smell of breakfast on the grill, naps in the afternoon, snuggling with my wife, reading a book, listening to nature, glassing with binoculars, on the lookout for animal tracks and sign, hunting in the morn and eve, sunsets, sunrise, the dog running around and enjoying the great outdoors, and dinner outside with a million $$$ view.

I have a new sig!

I don't have the balls to do it, but man that DOES sound like fun.

I don't know why, but playing cards with the muffled hiss of a propane lantern and nowhere to be in the morning is relaxing.
