For those who have mentioned Mr. Blackburn's video on other venues (good job), make sure to suitably tag your postings for search engine recognition by mentioning the names of the cognizant deputies: Darren Murphy, Jason Nefores, Matt Terrell, Eric Twisselman and Jay Wells.

It doesn't matter the seriousness of the crime. If the police cannot legally justify the search and they find a dead body, its not admissible and the guy walks. That is the deterrent against them entering illegally.

If the search is thrown out, the fruit of the search is tainted.

I'm trying to figure out which one is Darren Murphy? Probably the guy with the gut, his shirt un-tucked and the Barney Fife star?

Officer Murphy is a total Jerk. He responded to Mr. Harts brother's house a couple of months ago and was threatening to take the wife to jail for a completely obsured charge. He jumped the fence at that house as well and violated several amendments. Just nothing to do with guns. He's out to get the whole family on whatever he can. Now I'm worried about mine since I'm a neighbor.

Holy google search, batman! Darren Murphy SLO brings up just a few hits!! I did kinda forget about the other guys' names.

Well Dan, I think you got your story some attention, I really hope all of the effort will benefit Matt and if nothing else, ensure that the SLO Sheriff's Department goes back to playing by the rules. Deputy Darren Murphy ought to be living with some felonies on his record "screw him, with flowery language".

Well, I guess that answers our questions about whether or not civil rights trampler Darren Murphy is still employed at the SLO Sheriff's Department.

Isn't it crazy that you've got to consider audio/video recorders to protect yourself from the bad cops? There are a lot of little personal recorders, like the Flip, iPhone/smartphone apps and other practical options to keep with you next time you see Murphy fumbling over a fence, seemingly trying not to Neg. Discharge his rifle.

Now when someone says "and then Murphy showed up", I'll never be able to tell right off if they are referring to Murphy's Law or Mr. unlawful search/seizure Darren Murphy.

This may be the hottest thread in Calguns history.

That being said, what's next? I hope Mr. Hart gets his guns back, and a large lump of money, AND all those involved go to jail.

What I think will really hurt them is that the deputy was salivating over the M1A and other guns and said he was going to "get those guns". Why?? Are they taking seized firearms out to play with?? Why does he need those guns so badly if they are going to be kept in an evidence locker? Or is it so that it can be declared a public nuisance and the department elects not to destroy it, but to accept it into inventory?

To be fair, it sounded like that was the one he wanted to buy.

I think the best thing would be for the victim to seek criminal charges against them. IANAL so im not sure what the process would be.

Yes, however the mainstream media in SLO County has not covered this story. Calls and emails might change that.

Naw, those captions are not in order. I recognize people in a few other photos on that page and the captions are out of order. I'm betting it's porky to the right but again, I don't know for sure.

Matt Hart has informed me that shortly after Dave Congalton's Home Town Radio show ended last night, Matt was notified by the Public Defender's office that his guns would be returned (minus one lower receiver) as soon as a judge signs off on the deal. After two years and four months, a coincidence?
