Next time then.

Camp Super Secret Spot:

1) If you want a nice fire for the evening, bring plenty of wood. There's nothing substantial out there.
2) Be watchful for snakes.
3) The temp will drop about 30°F or more at night. Wind also picks up, meaning you have to properly rig a tent (if using one).
4) Water. Water. Water.
5) Offroaders get up early, and make for an annoying alarm clock.

This should be a lot of fun, I'll need to finally break down and build target hangers and maybe buy some AR500 plates.

+1

Yeah I'm trying to see if I can go. I really really need to invest some money on some good target hangers that can withstand some wind. At the BLM spots I frequent the wind can kick up pretty good and knock down targets.

Preferably somthing that I won't mind replacing too. Girlfriend's learning to shoot my 92, AR, and 12g (and loves it) and she's busted a few of my things i have thrown together.

It looks to be a bit over a 200 mile round trip for me. That's a long way to go for plinking but, the socializing will be worth it. If I can make it, I will. But, I probably won't bring anything too big with me. Depending on what I decide to drive, I might bring a duelling post and some .22lr swingers. I'll probably just bring a couple K31s and other mil-surplus type long arms. Oh, and some .38 snake shot too.

Same, but in .45 ACP!
Rattler for lunch?

I'll probably just be bringing my sportered M1917 (new Timney trigger), an AK and XD-45.

200 miles. That's just a drop in the bucket compared the 1300 mile round trip we did last summer to the Area 53 Shoot in N. Nevada outside Lovelock. We rented a trailer for the 3 of us. There were two guys who came from the L.A., area also, but admittedly, most were from the Bay area.

Now, saying that, I won't do it again as that was just way too long, but 200 miles is a cinch and you will have a good time. BTW, I was joking with roll eyes smilie.

About a 190 mile round trip here. I've done it a couple times and if you got good folks in the car with you then it goes by like that. Not to mention the Del Taco breakfast breaks up some of it.

This is assuming we would meet at del taco again... and if not I am going anyways.. so there!

Looks like we're gonna be making lots of new friends this time. We all might be squeezed in on the firing line.

I don't know what I'll be bringing yet but it probably won't be anything too exciting. My M1A will be in the shop, my ARs are under construction, and my Mini Thirty and AK won't reliably shoot my Wolf 7.62x39. It may be a handgun day for me.

As far as the trailer rental I mentioned, I now have a full house. I was trying to ascertain if my son (a member here) and his gf wanted to go and I finally got the answer they do. Lyte was the first to ask, so she has the 3rd spot and me the 4th.

I will speak with the owner hopefully in the next few days to finalize arrangements and if it is possible to have anyone else without us being crowded (we do need a place for the firearms and ammo), I will post that in the thread asap.

I'll be bringing my armored steel target (14" disk on a 5' non armored pole) and bowling pins (if they are allowed; I don't want to get cited).

One of the handguns I'll bring is my SA Professional, but I've others, plus some long guns I'll be bringing.

ETA: I'll also be bringing my fire pit (an old washing machine drum) that sits on two cinder blocks and firewood. We have used this at the Rose Parade and when we had our motor home.

I am not sure if the back way would be easier for you, but if your coming the 210 to the 15 you are more then welcome to park at my house and hitch a ride with me, I live about 2 min off the freeway. Let me know.

I've done many trips to Palimino Valley for matches. When I've camped at the range, I've only put 1300-1500 miles on my truck. When I've stayed at my place in Tahoe, I've put closer to 1800 miles on my truck each time. But, for a day of plinking, 200 miles is a lot. Speacially when I have to make it back home in a timely manner to care for the dogs.

Lyte-

I'll let you know a week or so before so that your quad will be there one way or another.

Andrew,

If I go, I'll have Lyte-'s quad with me. So, carpooling in your vehicle is out. You can catch a ride with me if, you are not planning on staying over night.

Everyone reading this thread should be aware it is also posted in the Calgun Community Forums in the LA/SB/IE/OC sub forum, so you should check both in case someone only posts in one thread.

Yes sir.!!!!!

I've been kind of swamp reading/listening to all your communications and I've failed to timely credit/thank a fellow member. Sorry about that.!!!!

Mr. JustinLB has donated the mother of all steel targets and a brand new clay launcher to the cause. This steel target is one of a kind, not even the good old .50 it's going to be able to put a mark on it's surface ( forget about penetration).

With all this kindness I'm much obliged and I'm willing to bring (2) cases of "biodegradable" clays for the members to have fun.

Long story short..... bring that 12 Ga. zombie harvester with you.......

My thoughts exactly! I'll have 3 or 4 light primer strikes per mag.

Niiiiice!
Now, what about the fire bell? Retired? More air than steel last time I saw it.
