I like this, I may come down for one. I can wait 6 months.

Any other fun toys we can get with enough paperwork?

If you want to file the paperwork to be an armorer for the film/tv industry, you can get your hands on grenades, machine guns, and pretty much anything you want. Read the relevant Prohibited Weapons laws in CA under Penal Code 12020, et. al.

I did the trust the Mike is using to get the form 4 tax stamp. Even though Mike can obviously own this through his professional licenses, we had him apply like a "regular guy" with an NFA trust and form 4. Can't wait to see if the feds issue the stamp or not. (only time will tell)

PM me if you wish for NFA trust details. (my office is around the corner from OC armory)

Yes, please do run the wait time and events here for us all to see.

So if you can own a regular gun you can own one of these?

Yes if you can own a regular firearm and are 21 you can purchase one of these. I will let you know the time line as it plays out.

Awesome! So, does it take any effort on our side to get an LMT m203 receiver? Do they make 37mm bbls for them?

From what I gathered in discussion with Mike:

Weapon Cost: $750 + local sales tax

Federal Tax Stamp: $5

NFA Trust: $500ish?

CA DROS: $25

Gun Lock: $10 (lol)

If you already have a Limited Liability Company (LLC) or Corporation, you probably don't need a Trust to buy the AOW, but that's up to you. I'm not a lawyer, but I have personal experience in this department since I'm a Trustee, Incorporated, and have an LLC. A Trust has some legal advantages over a corporation or LLC especially if you create a trust specifically for the purpose of obtaining AOW's. Your NFA trust will have no real assets other than the AOW's. If your trust is sued, you have legal advantages as well. An LLC or Corporation may have assets which can be lost in the event of a lawsuit. You also pay a yearly tax fee upwards of $800 to the State of CA to maintain your LLC/Corp. You pay a one time fee (to your lawyer) to set up your Trust. Although any future changes to the Trust will cost you as well.

Something to think about.

Payment can be made over the phone, right? To initiate the Form 4 only the paperwork (trust paperwork and Form 4 in duplicate filled out only needing the OC Armory entries to be added + $5 check for BATFE) needs to travel down to SoCal I would think ... no? Then when the ATF approves a visit down to SoCal to start the DROS and then 10 days later pick it up?

Wow, you are really serious.......so do the LMT M203 receivers transfer like any other firearm? How much do they run? How does OAL affect these? Do they need 16" bbls?

If LLC is sufficient for the NFA Form 4... how about a P.C. (Professional Corporation) such as those held by an actor, CPA or Attorney?

I am not sure about the PC I would have to check with the ATF. The SRS is in .338 lapua and includes the nightforce scope for $6500. A .308 one with just the firearm would be $3860. You are always welcome to handle anything in the shop. Some things we ask you not to work the action but feel free to stop by.

I would think that a PC would qualify if it is considered a corporation.

From the Form 4:
Quote:
Person. The term "person" means a partnership, company, association, trust, estate, or corporation, as well as a natural person.
everybody except for a "natural person" is exempt from the CLEO sign-off, which is why we go the trust/corp route.

update 5-1-10, Serbu says that they are offering 870-based AOWs again since Remington is shipping the PG-only host guns again. So I think that OCarmory should be able to hook you up with an 870-based SSS if you want.

Alrighty then... filling out the form 4 on Monday and it's off to the ATF with my $5. Wish me luck... then again, if I had any issues which would be raised by the NCIC, my boss would have called me in a long time ago.

wait a second, you can't submit the Form 4 for a Remington SSS until the SSS is already at OCarmory.

So, you need to talk to Mike about ordering you a Remington SSS (who knows, he might already have some on order). Then, once the Form 3 is approved from Serbu to OCarmory, then it can be Form 4'ed to you.

unless your company rules have changed and you can go with a mossberg-based item. Then, you could start a Form 4 on Monday for any unsold AOW that Mike had.

IIRC, you are LE, is your boss your CLEO? If so, couldn't you have him sign-off on the Form 4 and not need to go with a PC?

from what I read, LMT m203 receiver with 37mm barrel transfers like a "regular" firearm and not a DD .

I'll be interested in getting one. Anybody else wanna get one ? ( ie LMT m203 receiver with 37mm barrel) ?

thanks

I thought the CLEO had to be where you reside? Besides... not too sure if my boss wants his signature on that form... damn California and that liability getting everyone super cautious.

yup, where you reside. I was just wondering if you worked for the Police Dept in your home town, or for the sheriff of the county you live in. that way you could possibly talk your boss into signing it.
