Has anyone conclusively proven that this is public land that is OK to shoot on? As one person commented, there's no BLM land listed anywhere near that location.

Sure, others have shot there before but is that a good excuse for you to trespass and shoot up someones private land? Worse yet, wouldn't you hate to be the one guy the finally gets popped by the cops for shooting up someone's land (or worse yet, some part of some non-profits preserve) and therefore responsible for all the damage other yohoo's have caused?

As gun enthusiasts, we have enough problems with bird lovers (i.e.: the dumbass condor).

there's BLM land markers just off the road about a quarter mile before the shooting spot,so at one time it was BLM land. Whether it still is, I don't know.

This place was off to the right of the road, had a large spray painted area that was kind of marking it, like a bill board size kid tagging the area, so thats how i found it, safe back stop, follow the road up and it gets to a large open gate, narrow gravel road, 1 fun drive. Saw a wonderful 6 point buck on the reserve, wow!

Let's do this! Sunday Oct. 18th. I know no date will suit everybody but if knowone sets a date it won't get done. I'll bring my full size truck and as many 100-gallon wheeled toters (borrowed from work) as I can fit in the back. After we get done we can shoot! I'll even bring some frosty cold beverages. PM me to confirm your attendance.

Bravo guys! I am originally a Sonoma County native and love to see preservation of the land. Just so everyone knows, there was a large fire (300 acres) out that way last week, so just beware. Also, someone should bring a high-powered rifle, due to the mountain lion population.

Since knowone has contacted me to confirm that they'll be there, I will not be at Pine Flat Rd. on the 18th. I'll go south to Panoche Hills on the 17th instead.

Well, if the weather is crap, and / or the road is funky I'm not gonna make it up. However, if it is doable I'll be there, if not just to check the place out and pop a few

Yeah, I took a buddy and we went sunday morning. Got there around noon. The place is COVERED in shotgun sheels. MY GOD! Just as we got set up to shoot some locals came out, shot clays and drank beer. I was surpirzed the road is paved all the way.

Its pretty cool, but not what I thought it would be. It needs SERIOUS attention. I'll head back up in another 6-8 weeks when I am off crutches and do what I can. A clean-up party is probably something we should consider.

There is one big 8'x8' road sign that is now used as a target. I took the camera to take pics, but what few I took don't do justice.

Covered in shotgun shells.... guess I'll bring a rake, a shovel and a some trash bags when I get up there. Going to try for tomorrow and see what happens.

I've been shooting there since the mid-80's. Last time I was there it was when they were putting in the pipeline to the geysers and there was actually a manned security booth down at the bottom. We were in our Bronco towing a small open-bed trailer full of guns. We just drove on through like we lived there and the guy didn't say anything.

I was shooting with my brother off the side of the road by the quarry one time when this beater p-u truck came screaming up, the guy got out and said the owner says he needs to take our guns. I'm holding a loaded P226 and my bro's holding a loaded Redhawk. I just look at the guy like, are you ****ing nuts? I never said a word to him, just stared him down. He got in his truck and left. Very strange.

I need to get up there again. Lately I've been shooting at Circle S but recently heard a rumor that someone's going to open an indoor range out near Oakmont. That would be sweet.

You might be able to drag yer bike under one of the gates....but I cant remember. Other that the short ride up the road to the range...there isnt much...unless you find an open road along the way. Once you get past the range the road forks, but both forks are gated. From what I remember, this intersection is as far as you can go on 4 wheels

How about Sunday April 11?

The 11th sounds good to me,the only hold up would be if we are doing something for my sisters birthday.I talked to the wife about it last night and she said she would help out too.Anybody have a time preference? The earlier the better for me.
