Thumbs up Very cool.. Virtual reality 3D Avatar Game - latest high tech on your computer

check this out.. awesome technology

look at the dude in the drivers seat.. amazing stuff really

The virtual toys come to life via a little card called an i-TAG. When this is scanned by a web-cam (or any camera hooked to a computer), the tag displays 3-D models of certain vehicles from the film. As you can see, the virtual toy reacts to certain commands on the little tag. What's more, when two of i-TAGs from specific "Battle Packs" are scanned together they will interact on the monitor. Battle scenes anyone?

Augmented reality FTW. There are some free software toolkits out there that allow you to program stuff like that using webcams and QR-type barcodes.

Too bad this tech was inevitably going to be used in conjunction with James Cameron's masterpiece of subtle and nuanced cinema <ducks>.

There was something like this out of Japan about a year ago. Except instead of a goofy mech from a bad movie, it was a cheesey, scantily clad maid.

Where have I seen this before?

This is nothing new.

Ha! Less pervy, but that does trump my Japanese maid augmented reality for nerdiness.

Too kiddy for my tastes, but check out what Sony's next aug-reality widget after Eye of Judgment is:

I think if there were critters other than that dog/monkey thing, it could actually be cool.
