I know I picked up all of my brass that I could find, I mainly shot 9mm. I helped Mike aka nagorb clean up a bit as well. Great shoot you guys, can't wait to do it again.

Yeah thanks for the help. It was nice having someone to drive home with, it would suck to be stuck out there alone, I guess not so bad being I was more then adequately armed

Your car must have been going like a fat chicks vibrator at the speed you were going over that washboarded(or whatever you call it) road, I know mine was and I was going way slow.

Diginit and I walked around for 3 hours cleaning that place up. We really could've used that rake, especially for the guys shooting to our extreme left who left a couple hundred shotgun shells and brass. We got most of it.
Thats B/S man..
I am glad you and diginit had every ones 6 on the clean up.
I will bring you guys something for your effort next trip. Maybe a nice bottle of tequila for the camp fire.

Props to you guys for finishing up the job and coming through for the rest of us!! I wish Lloyd and I could have stayed the night, but our ride had to work early Sunday. Between us, the people next to us, The Ammo Guy Aaron, and his brother all scavenging for spent cartridges, a big chunk of the firing line should have been spotless. We had filled a couple garbage bags of trash and leftover target debris that we could find and Aaron was kind enough to haul it out in his truck. On the ride home, I was thinking about that phonebook and the rest of the leftover targets Im sure we missed. Thats why I asked. Thanks again guys for finishing up the job!!

We picked up all of our casings and our neighbor's casings as well. We also went a picked up all of out targets in the field (which was easy because we didn't bring hardly any targets in the first place). All said and done we had an empty box filled almost all the way up with brass, and a garbage bag worth of steel cases and other trash we picked up. Thanks to everyone who cleaned up on Sunday! Next time we will make sure to do a cleanup/new target set before it gets dark to minimize cleanup in the dark or the following day. It also makes sense to list rakes as a MUST BRING item. Great shoot everyone, and I look forward to next year's Halloween Zombie Shoot!

OK enough bitc*ing.
James set up a Mr.T 1/2lb charge on a small pumpkin about 40 feet to the right of our EZ up.
I took a few shots at it with my black Saiga AK. Who ever says AK's aren't accurite needs to shoot mine with the HK sights.

This is where I took the shot from. I missed a 4" target by a few inches, with iron sights.
I'm the black speck on top of the first hill. I did climb up to the top of that big mountian just off to the left.

To tell you the truth I think everyone there honestly did their best to clean up in the dark. Thank you guys for taking care of cleaning the left overs up the next day. I think a lot of that stuff probably got missed because we were using flashlights and the area targets were put out in was extremely large. Next time we will do a cleanup before it gets dark and ask people to only set up targets after that cleanup relatively close to the firing line. That way cleanup should be a whole lot easier when the nighttime shoot is over.

That's why I kept saying we need to clean up as much as we could before dark. It was spotless before we got there, the BLM is going to know it was us. I might head down there next weekend if I can make it to. I think it would be a good idea if we let the BLM know the sign got shot up asap and that we will pay for it, no matter who shot it we should all pitch in b/c this makes the whole of calguns look bad.

Wow that looks pretty bad with that paper.
as for the cases brass or steel, our group collected all the brass we could find and tossed whatever else *shot shells steel* we found into our garbage.

The bad part about this place is the soft dust like dirt. You step on a case and it buries itself. Many times I went back over and found my brass and kept it.

Hopefully if we are allowed again, there should be some more organization, what is allowed and isnt. something like a many page manual should not be brought as the mess it creates on the picture above.

As for the steel case, hopefully a few people can bring magnets to get all that.

Another idea is to buy tarps to lay down to collect brass and other stuff that will goto the garbage.

As for targets, we made our targets out of wood and you stuck a cardboard target into like most shooting ranges.
When we were done, we asked a few guys if they wanted firewood and they took it.

So those who stayed and cleaned, thanks.

Thats a horrible mess that was left. Im sure some got over looked in the dark, but the guys who brought the tanks and green bowling pins and left them, thats just messed up. Way to leave your mess for someone else to clean. Like DarkLyte said, we cleaned up our trash, and some of out neighboring shooters, i came prepared with a trash bag stand and 40 gallon bags. We didn't have much trash other than spent cases, which we picked up to the best of our ability, and our wooden stands were donated to the people with the fires who gladly took it. Good job to the guys who cleaned up, very respectful of you.

OK, I called our contact down there at the Hollister field office, Ranger XXXXXX, and filled him in on the sign situation (Luckily he was around this late at night). I told him about the sign, and we was actually rather non-chalant about the situation satying the signs are frequently shot at, but he was also very grateful that we contacted him to fill him in on the situation. I told him we would be more than happy to pay for the sign, and that I would cover the replacement cost. He said he would throw it up the proverbial totem pole and see what managemnet wanted to do about it. He's going to give me a call at some point and let me know what they want. I have got to say, he seems like a really nice guy and was really cool about the situation. He did mention that they might actually be happier if one or more of us voilunteered to help them replace some signs for a few hours.

Anyway, I will keep everyone updated, but key take away here is he was not mad, and was very happy we gave him a call to let him know what happened. Tell you the truth, hanging out with these guys replacing signs could actually be a really cool experience.

Greg made the rotating target from a garage door opener with a remote control. That was really ingenious. He was the last to leave and cleaned up his sh*t too. I think he enjoyed the Campfire. Not sure of his screen name though.
Most LEO's are really nice. It's just that they get lied to all the time. They really appreciate someone that is upfront and straight with them. Gotta admit, Their job is a bit*h.

Mike has pics of the mess on Sunday. I wonder if he will post them.

I think he is retired, But I don't care if he is active or not. He's a nice guy who enjoys good fun as long as no one gets hurt.

I don't mind cops as long as they don't throw the power trip on me. Rookies are the worst. An experienced officer knows when he is surrounded by BS and when he is not.

I'd be happy to help out with this (even though I wasn't at the shoot). It's important for the Rangers to know who we are and get the best impression of us as often as possible.

WW - if you'd PM me your info - we could make this a Calguns official event.

We didnt mind smelling your exhaust for 4 hours on the way there either, lol just playin! That CHP officer was giving me the hee-bee-gee-bee's though, thats why i stayed in my car. Maybe it was because of the special cargo we were haulling in the back, its all legit and CA legal, but you hear of the horror stories about uninformed LEO's snatching up legal guns, i didnt want to be a statistic, lol.

Its not every day you see a 1965 Caddy roll out into the hills with a trunk full of guns, i mean you see it in the movies, but its usually a trunk full of bodies and a shallow ditch. You guys are good people, and we need to go shooting again, soon!

Most LEO's are really nice. It's just that they get lied to all the time. They really appreciate someone that is upfront and straight with them. Gotta admit, Their job is a bit*h.

Mike has pics of the mess on Sunday. I wonder if he will post them.
Greg is my coworker. He is a longtime retired reserve sheriff from Inyo county. He is one of the most stand up guys I know. He loves telling stories. He would also give you the shirt off his back. He dosent have a screen name because he hates computers and internet. He does love shooting with us and loves what calguns is about. He is one of the best target makers I know.

The Ranger I spoke with sounded very impressed that we gave him a call Monday and admitted to shooting the sign. He knows that the majority of us are very responsible, and that calgunners in general have a high respect for the area. I think volunteering for periodic cleanups down there is a great idea, even if we haven't had a big shoot in recent weeks. maybe we should do a quarterly clean up (once every 3 months or so) and volunteer to help them cleanup whatever they want us to work on. That would help solidify our relationship with them. I might call back the ranger today to fill him in on details, as when i spoke to him last night I was confused about which sign got shot and directed him to the wrong one.

We didn't have much trash other than spent cases, which we picked up to the best of our ability, and our wooden stands were donated to the people with the fires who gladly took it. Good job to the guys who cleaned up, very respectful of you.
I am the guy with the green tipped bowling pins( qty. 5) etc. I took mine home with me. Those other ones are not mine. I loaded up "5" 40 gallon trash bags and a almost full 5 gallon bucket on shells/brass before leaving. My van was packed full. I had a hard time finding room at home to store the trash I collected. I picked all my stuff( green bowling pins etc. ) and came home with more than i came with. When somebody(not me) blows up a phone book, well you get a huge mess.I shoot in that area all the time. I am willing to help clean up whenever. i live in Patterson and can be there in 1 hour. If a sign needs replaced, I can do it if somebody mails it to me and tells me where the damaged sign/signs are. Had a great time. We need to keep it clean, so we can do it again. Man that was fun.

Not pointing fingers at anyone. By being a Calgunner I am just as responsible for that mess than the person who made it. That is why we walked around to clean that place up.

When somebody say I cleaned MY STUFF, thats great. But like all things it's the 1% that screws it up for the other 99% who police their own stuff.

My group picked up random trash we found in the target area when we left, we ended up with 3 contractor size garbage bags of trash, I believe. Some of the stuff I was picking up couldn't even be identified, lol.

Your right, its a team effort to clean up. I was tried and just picked up whatever looked destroyed, and there was allot of that. But that phone book/ books made a big mess.
