Default WTF? Country in Worst Financial Crisis Ever, Obama Spends Fortune on Clothes

I know she wants to be Jackie O, but is spending more on your clothes then some people earn in a lifetime appropriate in these dire financial days in the U.S.? Both of them are clothes horses and obviously know nothing about fiscal conservatism, besides that she has awful taste in clothes. (rant over)

And, wtf is up with the black widow dress?

She probably gets them gifted to her, huge exposure for a designer.

Who cares how much money people spend on clothes. If they can afford it what's the problem?

While I don't think it's wise to spend such an extreme amount on clothes, if they have they money they can buy what they want.

Can't send her on trips wearing Walmart specials, Oprah wouldn't fly with her.

It's her money, her choice.

I'm sure there are more than a few liberals that would look at Jacques Littlefield's military vehicle collection or Reed Knight's gun collection and want to tell them how to spend their dough.

You make it sound like she's spending taxpayer money. What do you care what she spends her money on? Find something relevant to whine about, it ain't that difficult.

Remember this?

Remember Nancy Reagan? Some people went ballistic too because of her wardrobe (which, mind you, was in a whole other league than Michelle Obama's).

But it was her own money or fashion donated by designers.

So who cares? If I were president of the US of A, I'd find it perfectly natural to be able to spend my own money on guns, wine and motorcycles, without having to deal with petty criticism.

For some, that's ancient history or "happened befoe my time" syndrome.

Memory of First Lady Nancy Reagan was the first thing that came to mind when the OP commented about First Lady fashion choices. When I remembered that the unemployment rate had broken 10% for the first time since 1983 the rant became even more ironic.

I'm a little curious as to where the first family's personal finances come from...

Do they have to pay taxes on gifts? Strictly speaking it is income.

Well both of the Obama's have their own money from books, etc. M.O. can spend as much as she wants of her own money, she will still be a tasteless, ugly woman.

Gifts Presidents and their wives receive while in the office are property of the National Archives.
