There are pockt holesters that will hide the outline of your gun. I use one to conceal my Ruger LCP and it looks like you have a wallet in your pocket and yes it is California leagal. I am not sure of the make of it but I could find it out for you if you want.

On the approved list...
Kahr Arms PM-9 Not on the approved list... Rohrbaugh R-9 IMO... "Mouse guns" are best suited for pocket carry. Most 9x19mm & .38Special handguns tend to be too big for effective pocket carry. Bobo's pocket guns comparison chart.

I pocket carry my PM-9 all the time, great pistol, its been totally reliable and very accurate for its size. I have the all black night sight version also and carry it in a holster Kahr no longer offers; my buddy carries his in a Desantis and likes it.
It will look like you're carrying your wallet in your front pocket but no one pays any attention to it. Might need some looser pants if you print with just a pocket knife. Some pants have pockets a bit too small for easy access, I've heard of other people having their pockets modified a bit for more room. |

Aye, don't wear Speedos with a Glock 34.
If you do, people won't ask, "Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" They'll just stay very far away.Thundewear holsters look good. http://www.thunderwear.com/ The SigTac leather jacket looks good too. They weigh a lot though. They have huge, deep pockets. You can fit a whole ream of 8 1/2"x11" of paper in each pocket. http://www.sigsauer.com/SigStore/Sho...?categoryid=77 |

You didn't specify, so how about an ankle holster and an Airweight etc.? With the right slacks or flared Wranglers/Levis you can easily hide quite the leg cannon. A small revolver & ankle holster presents no problems for carry. Squat to grab your gun and you're already down for a good shooting stance.
They make some sand-filled ankle weight straps with velcro attachment for exercise purposes. You can wear a light one on the other ankle to balance the weights and help you keep a normal stride when walking. Or wear spare mags on the other ankle if a small auto is used. |

I carry my 5 shot .38 snubnose in a pocket holster and feel it is the best way to carry. The pocket holster breaks up the outline so it does not look like a gun.
Also, you can casually put your hand on the gun without drawing attention to yourself. I also have a couple regular holsters and have tried a "behind the back" carry with my .38 and with my .40 and feel that it is too easy to make. If you wear a baggy printed shirt, you can get away with it, but it is not as easy as the pocket holster. Also, the pocket holster works well with shorts and a T shirt. You can buy them anywhere, I got mine at a gun show for $20 bucks. |

I'm a big fan of the Kahr PM9. I find it's the best trade-off between controllability, weight, recoil management, and accuracy in a CCW gun.
My P3AT is much lighter and more compact, but the recoil is fierce and the sights are terrible. My 642 is light, but also has terrible sights (it now wears a laser to help with that), and the cylinder bulge reduces the concealability. If you want to keep weight below 20 oz loaded and have a flat profile, good sights, and decent recoil, it's hard to beat the PM9. |

I'm a big fan of the keltec P11. It's very small, and holds a lot of rounds. I shopped for a while looking for the best package of small and 9mm, P11 wins. Good luck finding one in CA though :P If you look at the specs it's the same size as the KAHR pm9, weighs less, costs 1/3 as much and holds a lot more rounds. (think old SW model 59 mags, 15 rounds+1)

Wow, one of the only ultra compacts on the cali drop list and nobody's mentioned the Bersa Thunder 9. That would be relatively high up on my marks.
As for the "Thunderwear" I laughed so hard at that whole thing. It looks like a good way for a jingle berry to get blown off. I wouldn't even want a ND going off AROUND that area!

I carry a colt Pocket Nine sometimes. Works great in a pocket or a IWB holster. It's built like a tank and shoots great for what it is. IIRC, they only made them for one year (1998/99 I think) so they are a bit hard to come by.
But if you can find one, they are worth it. They are about the size of a Colt Gov 380 (slightly thicker), so they are on the small side/ easy to conceal. |

not true. my PM9 fits in my front jeans pocket in the pocket holster and prints like a wallet. maybe you need some looser fitting jeans. i suggest sticking to 9mm. YMMV.

Ruger LCP or LCR would be my choice for pocket carry. I have never shot one or even handled one though, so I can't speak about the quality of the product. I hear Ruger's have quite a lot of problems.
I know modern ammunition has come a long way and the .380 can pack a punch, but I personally wouldn't carry anything less than 9mm for personal protection. That's just me. |

CW9 in any in the pants holster is easily concealable. I use a simple uncle mikes holster and the gun in not noticeable at all. Single stack 9mm, this gun is real thin and a great shooter.

Anyone tried the Taurus mil pro? I handled one at a local shop but haven't carried or fired it yet.
I did fire the Mil pro .45. I loved it, but not the price of the ammo in comparison to my other 9mm.

I'm buying the Ruger LCP on Thursday. I would prefer a 9mm also, but this will work for days when my clothing is minimal (gym, hot weather, etc) or when ankle carry is desired. I played with the LCP in the store on Sunday and wanted a few days to research it. I am convinced it will serve my needs well.

i can recomend the keltec p11 or pf9...no there not on the list but they show up evry so often on the for sale forum here, you just got to keep an eye out for a while...(just ask bigcalidave)
while the p11 has capacity the pf9 is a bit more slim and got a lighter trigger... just remember to follow the law at all times... dont get in trouble because your not licenced...

Your gonna want to stash an extra mag as well. I like my G26 and a standard G17 for a reload. I can hide my G26 pretty well. Remember layers and don't have anything that can catch you clothes and print. I'm not a fan of pocket holsters, makes it tough to keep that finger away from the trigger.

I agree PM9 works great in the pocket. I really like that gun. I added a Hogue Handall Jr. (upside down works better) to fill up my hand just a bit and give some grip for my middle finger. Mine is accurate and functioned perfectly for hundreds (maybe 700?) of rounds. Also works great IWB. I do like the idea of a PPS, but anything larger than the Kahr won't go well in my pockets. Anything smaller than Kahr seems to be a .380 (which is not for me, but WAY better than nothing!).

+1 Carefully selecting cargo pants gets you the kind with really deep front pockets. Whatever you have in those pockets are covered by the outside cargo pocket. Even if the cargo pocket is empty your pistol in the front pocket doesn't print.

I would suggest a Glock 19. I have a full size 9mm's, but if I have to carry discretely, it's either going to be a Walther PPK or a 92C.
I wear either 5.11 denim pants with built-in holster (RH only) with two mag pockets, or the 5.11 holster shirt. It doesn't print with a patterned, loose buttoned shirt. Like someone suggested, dress for the gun. |

I vote for the PM9. I pocket carry one every day. If you plan on waist carry the G26 is a better option(more ammo, better grip). But the pocket carry is a lot easier and the possibility of accidentilly flashing is nill. The PM9 is so light that you will not notice it in your pocket.
