Both PayPal and GUNPAL as conditions of their user agreements obtain permission to initiate debits as necessary to zero out a balance (say you scam someone, we're going to charge you

However, it is not physically possible for PP or GP to charge a card or bank account that is not linked

Many people don't use their main bank account for online purchases, and with free checking out there I'd recommend that people open a second account and keep a smaller amount money in it. That's just smart in 2009.

That said, I have my main account linked to GP.

Just sent this to infinitepursuits.com, where I just ordered something (via their eBay account). This isn't all I sent them, I've just posted the non-sensitive bit. It's so generic it almost looks like a form letter. Anybody else want to use it?

Hi, I was wondering if you've heard of the new payment processor GUNPAL (https://www.gunpal.net/)?

The CEO, and many (if not all) of the board are part of the civil gun rights movement. On your website, you sell some gun products that eBay/PayPal would ban sales of, if they haven't already.

"GUNPAL is an alternative to PayPal™ that donates a portion of the proceeds from every transaction to a Non-Profit Organization of your choice. GUNPAL does not discriminate based on the nature of your transaction, requiring only that the merchandise or services you buy and sell be legal."

Their reply...

Thanks for the information about an alternative to eBay/PayPal. We will review their site for future consideration, but for now we are only setup to accept payment via PayPal.

Best regards,
Tom

Signed up for personal use. I currently use PP for some biz stuff - and one feature I really really really like is the "virtual terminal."

I sell at craft fairs, gem & mineral shows, etc. I use old fashion paper credit card receipts and an old fashion mechanical swipe machine at the show. Then when I get home I run the cards through PP as my credit processor. I'd love to have a chance to move away from PP for all the reasons previously discussed.

P.S. I also use the PP buy-now buttons (actually which can be configured to be an "add to cart" so multiple items can sell) on a website. Do the GP buy-now buttons work similarly?

Working on it! Coming SOON too. Think weeks.

Right now they are somewhat primitive - however we are going to radically expand button, subscription, and API capabilities very soon. As above, weeks.

I'd be willing to use it once they can get the checking account confirmation stuff figured out.

That is what I thought. I'll assume just because they have access to 1 account at a bank they cannot access the others.

I'll need to check up on the credit card issue.

Oh and thanks for the tips LongRangeShootin!

It works - unless the user makes a typo in their bank account info :P Right now our admin process to correct those typos for our users is a little stone-aged.

But if a user gets everything right - it just works.
