I signed up for it myself a few minutes ago, but as a precaution, i used my internet nly account. i never keep money in it. if im going to do an online purchase, i transfer money to it and then use it.
if this service flies, it will be the best thing since sliced bread. problem with paypal is they loose thousands of customers each day ( im sure) just due to their anti-gun views and bull... personally, i had 2 different run ins with paypal, and a friend of mine had a HUGE run in wit them. firstly, i sold a guy a thompson center contender barrel. he paid with paypal ( which i thought was ok at the time)..it was just the barrel ( a mike bellm 444 malin custom). i sent the barrel to the guy via USPS priority insured, signature required. everything went good , until the guy got the item. he called paypal and told them he had bought an item from me and i never sent it. they contacted me, and i told them i sent it, and even got insurance and signature conf. on it, and the guy had signed for it. they requested a copy of the signature , and i sent it to them. they called me on the phone and told me they got it, and everything looked good. i even went to the point of calling his local post office, talking to his postman that delivers his mail who clearly remebered the guy getting the item and signing for it, and submitted an affidavit from him, witnessed by THE LOCAL POSTMASTER to them. next thing i know, they shut my account down, froze over $500 bucks i had in there. when i called them and asked them WTF, they told me that because the transaction was for a FIREARMS RELATED ITEM, that it was in violation of their TOS AND UNDER WHICH, THEY COULD FREEZE MY ACCOUNT AND KEEP MY MONEY INDEFINATELY. the second time i had opened another account ( because someone told me the had changed their policies). i had a deal with a guy in Australia (whom i had delt with before) to sell him a metal detector ( for gold prospecting) for $600 bucks.he paid the funds with paypal and i sent the detector out to him. next thing i knew they froze my account AGAIN, telling me that in their opinion, since the guy was overseas, the whole deal had to have been a scam ( with me getting scammed they said) and because of that, they froze MY ACCOUNT because the guy had paid ME....well, i had already shipped the item to him, they froze the money and refunded it to the guys card. needless to say, i tried to explain to them i had already shipped the guy is item, and all i got was "tough sh*t" NOW, i have a long time friend who decided to start a business selling on ebay. he sold sporting goods and firearms related gear ( such as brass, dies,equipment,ect)...nothing illegal, no live ammo, no guns, ect. one day he got up, checked his paypal and they frose IS ACCOUNT, to the tune of $24,000+ bucks.when he called them, he got the same thing i did "read the TOS". he got a lawyer and has been actively fighting them in court now for like 4 years+......and STILL HASNT SEEN A DIME OF HIS MONEY YET. everytime they get to the point of walking in a courtroom, paypals lawyers file this or file that and delay it longer. thats why i always use a separate account for internet purchases/payments, and dont use/hate paypal. |

I like PayPal and will probably stick with them for now. I don't like to be on the "new" band wagon when it comes to money. Never had a problem with paypal. If all goes well with the service for 6 months-1 year I would consider it.

i'll use it for all gun related transactions. it'll be hard to convert others that don't really deal with firearms until gunpal grows a larger. mr. cannon gave me my account about 2-3 weeks ago but i got swamped and forgot about it.
first transaction i made today was donation to CGF.

how about a website/forums setup just for those who have gotten cornholed by paypal?
http://www.paypalsucks.com/forums/ how many people are registered users there? 102931 and no one gets a clue how F'ed up paypal is? if you do ANY transactions thru them , your chancing getting messed over and haveing your account frozen and loosing your money ill tell you, if you ( or anyone else) hasnt gotten on there and just read some of that stuff, youd better check it out.......your money and credit depends o n it. theres episodes of people getting chargebacks on their accounts, AFTER 8 YEARS+ on there..... or how about this "According to the San Francisco Chronicle, there are approx. 100,000 complaints outstanding at PayPal (Are any of these yours?). In many instances disputes can run on for months leaving people frustrated and out of pocket as they are unable to access their accounts. So what happens to the millions of dollars tied up in frozen accounts and disputes? Well, here is a clip from the San Francisco Chronicle that basically sums it up: U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel of San Jose refused to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks class-action status on behalf of thousands of PayPal customers nationwide. A common allegation is that the company brushes off or stalls customer grievances for months and meanwhile freezes the customer's account and pockets the interest (So that's how they make their money!). No wonder they freeze so many accounts!" Last edited by LongRangeShootin; 11-06-2009 at 6:03 AM. |

is there any reason why people keep their money in paypal once they receive payment? i mean for most sellers, you get payment first before you ship, no? i transfer my money to my bank asap the moment it gets there. it's been an avg of 3 days or so when my account sees it. I don't think paypal can reverse it when you move your money to your bank account. not without your consent anyway.

I would really like to know if they can take $ out of my savings account, or even un-affiliated credit card that is tied to my pay pal account - without my permission.

Another reason may be to use it to make a purchase or donation...without having to wait for the money to transfer from your bank account.

For a business operating primarily on eBay, they are often running dozens and even hundreds of auctions at the same time, so they can have thousands of dollars passing through the account. If they are using Paypal to pay their own suppliers, they may only skim the profits off of the Paypal account into their own account. This may reduce the Paypal fees, which can be substantial when you are running tens of thousands a month through the account.

![]() However, it is not physically possible for PP or GP to charge a card or bank account that is not linked Many people don't use their main bank account for online purchases, and with free checking out there I'd recommend that people open a second account and keep a smaller amount money in it. That's just smart in 2009. That said, I have my main account linked to GP.

Just sent this to infinitepursuits.com, where I just ordered something (via their eBay account). This isn't all I sent them, I've just posted the non-sensitive bit. It's so generic it almost looks like a form letter. Anybody else want to use it?

Signed up for personal use. I currently use PP for some biz stuff - and one feature I really really really like is the "virtual terminal."
I sell at craft fairs, gem & mineral shows, etc. I use old fashion paper credit card receipts and an old fashion mechanical swipe machine at the show. Then when I get home I run the cards through PP as my credit processor. I'd love to have a chance to move away from PP for all the reasons previously discussed. P.S. I also use the PP buy-now buttons (actually which can be configured to be an "add to cart" so multiple items can sell) on a website. Do the GP buy-now buttons work similarly? |

I'd be willing to use it once they can get the checking account confirmation stuff figured out.

there weren't any typos. Per tech support, I attempted to add a second account using the same info off my check to check for a typo, and it won't accept it because it was a duplicate of the first. And even after I deleted the unconfirmed checking account to start over, it won't let me add in a new account using the exact same info off the check I have typed in a half-dozen times already.

We've confirmed thousands of bank accounts - the feature works. That said, it takes 2-5days. If 5 days go by with no verifications, please open a support ticket.

Not sure if anybody's mentioned it, but GP is also competing with another anti-gun payment processor: Google Checkout. A pox on both their houses.
