Ya, I really should just drop the coin on the integrated laser that replaces the rod and save the tacticool rail mount unit for a training aid for an AR/AK.

this is a case logic portable dvd player bag that works great. it has 3 seperate compartments and can hold a pistol, about 8 mags and 2 boxes of handgun ammo.

I think there's been a run on them... I checked M&I in Pomona last week... no drop leg or shoulder rigs on their budget/tacticool racks.
They had one or two shoulder rigs in the case.

That's probably because everyone within 100 miles of Fresno already has one, or two, or three

Yeah, or maybe a Crimson Trace laser grip, which is easier to activate than the guide-rod models.

Funny that you should mention a generic bag like that. I was looking at laptop and netbook bags yesterday for the very purpose. But I didn't like how most of them are too hard to lock--many of them had solid zipper pull tabs that would have to be drilled out to accept a padlock.

Excellent advice--it would be awesome to pick up a used Eagle Industries leg rig--they make probably the best one out there.

Would have done that 3 years ago, but the only alternative grip available for the XD is the Pachmer (spelling?) rubber slip-over.
Got one, not sure that I like it... need to take it to the range, but it seems too bulky. I'm glad it was only $15 because I have a feeling it's going to end up in the "crap I shouldn't have bought" box.
