Get the ARmalitem, not the Eagle. Armalite is chrome-lined, Eagle ain't.

Or for $400 you can get the complete kit with the BCG. It doesnt have the front A2 sight though it looks like it has a little mini rail there instead.

http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.asp...e-63fe2c75d131

It has a flash suppressor on the front though. Isn't that a problem for CA builds?

Nope. Not a problem for CA builds unless you are planning on making a featureless build. If you are going with the plain old bullet button, it is just fine.

Such tough choices.
I was all set to get either a
BCM standard
BCM cold hammer forged
LMT

THis is a great price though. Now I have to decide if the 1 in 7 and the nicer barrels is worth the extra $170-270 ish dollars.

Never easy choices

I didn't see it either, but it sure looks like it has one. So how does armalite quality compare to other companies?

Even if they're Eagle it's still a decent deal.
I bought a 20" non-chrome lined Eagle upper last year from Armalite; it had short-stroking issues because the gas tube was leaking like mad. It took me awhile to figure out what the problem was, but a new gas tube fixed it ($15). It shoots less than 2 MOA at 100 yards with PMC Bronze. Nothing wrong with that.

Wow, that's a great price. But I'm kinda suspicious...

Is it HBAR? Carbine or Mid length?

$300 for a middy upper??? Damn good deal if its true. How does Armalite compare though? CMMG Del-Ton quality? Or Model 1 quality?

Just got off the phone with Tim at Armalite. He said it IS a middy and that wasnt exactly sure what the barrel profile was but he called it "middle weight" so maybe gov't profile? I snagged one.

no m4 feed ramps? after you buy a bcg and charging handle isnt any better of a price than a rock river and im not seeing much of a difference between the two... maybe save a few dollers...?

still going to wait and get a BCM middy!

All of the Armalite's these days have extended feed ramps. I also confirmed with someone else that it was a middy. 8" hand guards.

i ordered one last night, a M15-A4 CARBINE COMPLETE UPPER ASSEMBLY. all i got was an email saying "thanks for ordering."

however, today, just right now 6-ish, i checked the logon on armalite's web site and it has already assigned me a tracking number. when i checked the ups site, it says to be delivered on 11/16.

i hope that helps... also, if anyone knows, i bought the 16" carbine, do any of you know if the Magpul MOE handguards will fit? i know the MOE is for a carbine... so i'm hoping it would. its my first ar15 build.. so i dunno. thanks in advance!

thanks b_josh.

I would wait till you get the upper. I think many of the "carbines" that armalite sells are actually middys. I know that is the case with the one linked to above.

Looks like a better deal than the DS Arms upper I picked up a month ago- I think I'll stay with my decision though. This way I can choose what BCG to use...charging handle doesn't matter too much to me.

Does the Armalite have M4 feed ramps? I heard it mentioned in this thread but I don't know if its been confirmed.

More about the reasons for "mid-length" here:

http://www.defensereview.com/armalit...th-sir-system/

Quote:
The Armalite Mid-Length Carbine was designed specifically to overcome the long-known gas system-related problems associated with the standard M4/M4A1, problems that have been plaguing end-users for years. These include greatly accelerated gas port erosion, excess heat, higher operating gas pressures, melted and blown-out gas rings, and an open/iron sight radius that’s too short. None of these are good things on a field combat weapon.

They are mid length! and med profile barrels i believe, never did any research to find out what the differences are in the barrel types. I can post a pic if you would like. I was confused when they called it a carbine too but in fact it is mid length. I ordered mine a long time ago and received them a few months ago. I should have waited, could have saved a few hundred. Ohh well im happy!

Armalite makes good stuff, i would call it top tier. Stoner was a Chief Engineer at ArmaLite back in the day. Where do you think Colt got there patents from, they didn't design crap. Anyway they make good junk.

Bad pic but kills any
