Default Bad experience in California

just want to share my experience about emergency call.

1145 pm somebody try to rob our home but he didnt make it inside because of the chain lock. I try to push the door to close it, He keep trying but end up spraying us with a fire extiguisher.
I call 911 around 1148 pm. Guess who answer my call, A automated machine and keep me on hold for 7 fuc**** minutes.
When somebody answre my call and ask so many questions about the incident. 1240 am fire department arrive and no police came in. I said to my self " WTH " our life was in danger and it took so long to wait for the help and still no police.

The next day we fuond out that there's a out of prison escape. I call the sheriff department and ask for the incedent report. I took me 3 day to call them every day and still got nothing.

What a bad experience on my first month in Ca.

ya your posting in the Calguns site. Wouldnt the barrel of a 12 gauge shotgun with a 3in mag missile in the pipe a better way to handle the situation? but then im just being a back seat driver and more importantly you and your family are OK. Im sorry the poo happened.

Welcome to California and sorry to hear about what happened. I had a similar experience with LAPD 15+ years ago.

*Long story short, 2 guys came and stole stuff out of the garage while I was moving.

*3 of us armed with ak47s watched the place the next night and they showed up so we called 911.

*They told us not to confront the perps and to wait for the police. 2 hours later, the guys took stuff and left. When we called the PD, they said they went to E. PCH instead of W. PCH but never called us (I call BS)

*Next night they came back AGAIN and we confronted them. We called 911 and this time I told them we had them at gunpoint.

*3 minutes later 5 squad cars along with helicopter came and we had to show the officers how to unload the Calico M950 we had with us as they knew how to unload aks.

*Next morning, our front door was firebombed.

Now you understand why there are so many people in prison and why more people need to find out about calguns.

With budget constraints and an ongoing poor economy that has a lot of people unemployed. I fear that this will become more common story as we let out 40,000+ from prisions and jails in CA.

In a situation like that, the only job for the police is to file a police report and call a corrinor for YOU. Welcome to Calguns and you should really work on having some home protection, not just for you, but your family.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience AK! I agree with my brothers here... You & your family come first & you gotta do what you gotta to protect that! Im not knocking on the PD, but you cant always rely on the law to show up on time... Thats my perspective!

im just a regular citizen sir. i have gun (just bought last month), but i want to obey the law.

well if my life or my family is in real danger, ill use it even will cause me a jail time. But as much as possible, ill avoid to use it.
After gaining some info about dealing with firearm, im becoming more responsible on every decision i make.

Mabye he just wanted to borrow a cup of sugar. I would of screamed "I got a gun and I'm not afraid to use it!!" then if he continues in I would assess the threat and make a decision right there what to do hopefully without shooting through a closed door.

I'm like you and want to obey thelaw also, but if somebody is "Forcing" themselves in your house to cause harm to you or your family, you have the right to defend your family and yourself, and if that means using your gun, you better use it before they cause harm to you or your family.
Glad to see that you and your family are ok after that.

Just wait until California releases 40,000 of the state's finest citizens to alleviate prison overcrowding.

I bought a pepper spray after that incedent. Then one time the CHP stop me for overtaking a truck and he saw my 4 oz pepper spray. He ask me why i have those PS. when he saw my address and tell him about the incedent, he just said " Oh living in a bad community/area ha? " . Then he let me go without any citation

Default Armed citizens = less crime

I'm sorry to hear about your incident. This is just another illustration among many that clearly demonstrate that only YOU can keep yourself and your family alive and well. If all homes were filled with armed citiizens, do you think that thugs with fire extinguishers would try to rob them? With the potential to be killed by an armed citizen protecting his family? I think not. Arm yourself and champion this nations freedoms!

There was a similar incident in Sac earlier this year, with 2 perps supposedly trying to pry the door open with a shotgun barrel. Resident shot through the opening in the door and hit both of them. I believe it was considered justified.

That's utterly horrible, and I'm sorry for your experience. I've been in this state 28 years and have never had an incident like that.

I would recommend filing complaints to the local law enforcement offices and 911.

Then write a few letters to journalists. They always eat stuff like this up.

if the suspect was known to be armed, it is justified for sure. but without knowing?

Get some better locks. A chain lock is useless. Deadbolts are a good start, but not the end-all be-all. Better than a privacy chain, though.

If a perp is brazen enough to attempt to force their way into an occupied residence, I believe a "reasonable person" would presume that they are armed and a direct threat to life or well-being.

Note to self: Don't use the ATM on Beach Blvd

Seriously... that kind of thing can happen anywhere at any time.
Yes, some neighborhoods are worse than others, and you aren't going to find too many thugs doing home invasions in gated communities... but once outside of the gates, who is going to be a more productive target at an ATM? The guy in BelAir wearing a watch that's worth more than my car, or the single mom with 4 kids pushing a shopping cart through Santa Ana?

(and yes, I've used that ATM dozens of times over the last 20 years)
