Default AK Build Party/Bay Area DEC 5, 2009!!SPOTS CLAIMED>>WAITING LIST!!

Hosting a build party @ my place

where-Antioch,CA
what-AK's
when-December 5, 2009 from 8:30am-6:00pm---my girls pretty upset about the early start time
why-because we're addicted

It will be indoor/outdoor. I have an outside stand around heater and a fireplace if its cold. The last time it rained on this date was in 2003(weather history)and that was drizzle.

UPDATE:
I am cutting off the main list. Spots are claimed. there is a waiting list. I am still waiting for payment from some folks. If anyone bails, I will let those on the waiting list know. Thankyou
COST-

$25 per person building, that includes the food&drink.
$5 for spectators includes food&drink

Not to rub anyone the wrong way, but if you want to be a larger doner to help purchase a couple build specific tools ,that will benefit everyone, it would be awsome.** I am going to work on having one of these every month or at least every other month. With that being said if you donate $20 on top of your cost for this build, the next bp I host you will have free admittance+food.

Reserve your spot! It will be held with paid dues. There should be plenty room, but why risk it.

PM me for where to send payment

I hear paypal is anti-gun. For that I discourage it, but if you must, add $5 to your total to cover fees(unless donating to tool fund). You may "pm" me for payment details.

I will have name tags with your handle on it for those who paid and are coming.

Thanks guys!

Lets see what people can bring for the bp
ie:tools,presses,jigs,etc

maybe another flat bending jig

Hey I'd like to attend but won't know for sure if I'm free until mid/late Nov. I've got a dremel w/ grinding and cutoff bits. I'll post back if I can make it when the future gets a little clearer. If I'm free, I'll bring a friend to watch (build if I can talk him into it).

@python2- for sure. 2 AK's! .... lucky=). a pm is on the way.

@every1- sorry bout the last name but the first 3 letters of it are supposedly derogatory so when I type it in the thread it puts these(*) in place of the 3 letters rendering it un-readable. If you need the last name just pm me and I will get back to you with the info.

well you need to get those old rivets out of the front and rear trunnion. if your barrel is not seperated from the front trunnion yet, you need to press the barrel pin and barrel out to get out the 2(on each side) rivets out. All the items and more importantly knowledge you will need to get these things done will be at the bp.

As far as parts you will need a set of ak 47 rivets and center support rivet. then your compliance parts. trigger group(counts as 3 of 6. tapco g2 is good)
depending on if you go featureless or evil youll need a bullet button yada yada.

I have all the parts but a mag lock and a mag. I want a different stock but that may have to wait until after Christmas (I have 5 kids, Santa sets me back). I need to take the brass scrap bucket from under my reloading bench in so I can call Duraglock to order them.

If you plan to remove the rivets at the BP, make sure you bring a good drill bit smaller than the rivet, drill punch, lots of metal cutting blade (Cow Palace Gun Show this weekend have them) for the Dremel (I will bring my Dremel) as that little round thing break easily if you are not carefull cutting the rivet heads.

Sort of, its now 100%. Tested it out with my other AR upper and it worked fine. I am now in the process of collecting the rest of the upper and lower parts for this build. I will put together everything piece by piece.

It's '80s Russian manufacture. Ukraine to be specific, berdan primed, corrosive, FMJ, boat tail, steel core. At this point it looks like I have 2 extra cans of 1080 coming. I will know more next week.
