Default Beretta 71 Jaguar

Finally found one after looking for a while, one of the best .22lr pocket pistols ever made. These are 17 ounces empty since it is an alloy frame and the magazine holds 8 rounds of .22lr.

My grandpa gave me one on my 21st birthday. It was my first pistol.

Simply beautiful! The model 71 is in my top 3 list.
Are rare find especially here in CA.
Mind sharing how long the search took, and how much you paid.
I have noticed the few that have been on Gunbroker and Gunsamerica are around the $400-$500 range.
Thank you for sharing.

I have wanted one of these for close to 25 years, back in the old days you would see them around for sale now and then for about $200. I just never had the cash at the right time then. I happened to stumble across this one a couple of months ago and immediately put down a deposit, price was $395. This pistol actually was the target version with the 5.9" barrel and the big thumbrest grips, extra magazine too. I found a short barrel locally and bought the grips online, they are repro and not perfect but I like them much more than the GCA grips the pistol had on it.

My Grandfather bought the Jag. 71 and shot it twice in his friends basement 30 or so years ago and put it away. After talking to him several months before I turned 21 couple years back, he mentioned he owned a pistol and it was probably all rusted up. On my 21st birthday he handed me a perfect condition Jaguar 71, just as the picture above along with a leather case. This is a great pistol and I've spent more on a non-factory magazine than i did for the $19 DOJ family fee.
