Default have a question about becoming an Officer

What are the requirements to becoming an Officer?

I was under the impression that if you have a 4 year degree, you can apply for officer school? Or are you automaticly an officer?

I have a friend who works at a community college and he needs the info...

You might automatically get E-4 (Specialist) but you won't be an officer unless you apply for OCS.
I do not provide legal services or practice law (yet).

Half way towards your degree, you can apply to OCS and go through training every summer. Once you have completed your 4 year degree requirement you can then be sworn in and go to the basic. At least that's the way we did it in the Marines. You must also be a US Citizen before you can even apply for your commision (this is not a requirement for enlisted men). I know of some officers who were enlisted before they finished their college education (we call them mustang officers), those men are highly respected by in the enlisted ranks.
