ahhhh... for any lady that gets offended and up tight over something petty like this, yes it is tasteless... but one day people will stop wanting to say that to you.. so enjoy it while you can

Try to keep the euphemisms for 'Lady' to yourself.
<-- I did not write that

A grown man might have asked how often that you went to the range and then made a date to bring some more of his guns the next time. He might get lucky too. It it isn't likely to happen with comments about your body parts right out of the blue...
Honestly what woman shooter in her right mind would actually think of going to the local range in the hopes of letting some guy she doesn't know get "lucky"?

My story was just two examples of compliments at the local range(s). One of the compliments, though sincerely uttered, was poorly thought out. It was an example of bluntness, not sexism or even a poorly disguised come-on. Nothing to make a big deal out of. For sure. Just thought it was funny enough to share.

Since no offense was meant in the men's words, I took none. Though the choice of words in the second compliment was inelegant (obviously I had no hesitation in poking fun at their gaucheness), I still find sincere appreciation from men welcoming. If I were to meet either man again at the local range, I would treat him as a friend. I like being friendly, as that is my natural frame of mind. So I liked their friendliness as well. And I liked their compliments. I especially liked how the second man brought over his loaded handguns to let me fire them without any expectation of reciprocity. When I asked him questions, he answered them. To me, he seemed both genuinely knowledgeable and experienced regarding handguns. If people were as generous and kind as he, perhaps this world would be a better place.

It's a laid back place in a small town. Owned by retired LEOs. Lots of used guns and C&Rs for sale. Plenty of surplus ammo. Last time I was in there, one small rack was full of pre 64 Winchester rifles and shotguns. The local NRA chapter meets there regularly too...

local sheriff gave me the heads up that markley's was the place to go. i bought my smith model 60 there as well as a marlin lever rifle. i found them to be very competitive pricewise. love looking at the walls of rifles!

OP, that reminds me of the scene in"Liar Liar", when J.C. is in the elevator with the hot looking new gal, and she tells him how she like her new job, and how everyone is so nice.

J.C. responds back with, of course they are, you've got great tits.

LOL, how true.

ok, i'm in a bad mood: i just read over in the off topic forum what one poster thought was "funny" which included a picture of a young woman who was set up for a "prank" and who could have really been hurt. there are times when i don't have to wonder why more women don't participate here at Calguns when i see stuff like that....and then i wonder why i continue to participate myself.....

While I am a guy myself don't let stupid people stop you... If you do it only sets the rest back missing the knowledge and experiences you and you alone may have...

Having five older brothers and shooting around men for 20+ years, I guess I've heard almost everything. It's true -- some guys speak before thinking (as do some women!), but fortunately, most of it has been harmless and not malicious.

On the other side of things, I haven't had any bad experiences at the range with men. Maybe it's because I drag around an extra 100 rounds of .45 ammo for "just in case???"

But yeah, I can't see the average gal going to the range and trawling for dudes like at a bar. Too much firepower on both sides to discourage nimrod behavior most definitely!

Man, that's one of my all-time favorite funny movie scenes.

As I recall, after he stared at her revealing cleavage, he licked his lips and said, "Mommy!"

Then she slapped him.

lol

Well, im glad you had an open mind about it, and didnt take it too maliciously, as im sure it was not intended that way. Bad form, of course, funny, not too much, sounds like a classic case of open mouth-insert foot.
