Default Want to join but not sure if I can.

My background:
36yrs old, 215lbs, 5'9". Laser vision correction. No current health problems. Spouse and 1 child under 18.
It looks like I can only possibly qualify for Army Reserve once my weight/fitness level is acceptable.
I have 2 years of college credits and anticipate doing very well on the entrance tests. I would like to do something with my mind over manual labor but as a former Teamster I am not afraid of hard work. I am interested in trades like electrician (former IBEW apprentice), pipefitting, HVAC, IT, Networking, Intelligence, MP or anything that would transfer over to the civilian market. My current employers are all retired military with high security clearances due to the job we perform. Many of my co-workers are in Iraq/Stan as linguists, security personal, etc.
Can anyone tell me what I can expect with the process from start to end?
I have been wanting to join and my wife is currently considering allowing this to happen. I am used to waking at 0330 and ending my day at 2100.
I am looking to serve my country and learn new skills. Money is not an issue but a bonus would be icing on the cake.
