Default a long awaited poll.

So i think something that really needs to be addressed in the "market place" sub forum is the need to post pictures.

I think it should be one of the rules that you need to post pictures a long with your sale.

In other forums i am a member of this is a rule and the thread will be locked until the person can provide pictures.

Its getting really old seeing someone post up a gun and the first question that is asked is for pictures.

Anyone can post pictures there should be no excuses other than no camera.

if you dont know how to host them you can email them to someone on here you know or whoever you think would be willing to host them for you.

i dont know i guys i just think its a good idea

What happens to the seller who spends money on guns instead of a camera?

Your requirement would preclude listings from a small amount of sellers or leave the door open to unverifiable no camera claims by others.

It's in the best interest of a seller to provide pictures.

I don't think it should be mandated. But I think the seller shouldn't whine when they get 13 requests for pictures, either.

I just voted for having to have a picture but on second though, I don't feel it should be mandatory. If someone has a "Like New" "Insert common gun here" they really don't need a picture. If we look at the sales forum, most sellers do take the time to post pictures or make the effort to email them etc to whoever needs them.

I do not think photos should be mandatory.

you sir should slap yourself.

this is about having a picture in an internet forum.

i think it should be imposed because it will keep the forum from being littered with sales that arent going anywhere. It seems to be that they dont go anywhere until pictures are posted.

Im NOT "imposing: my rules on anyone.

Im just starting a thread asking what YOU think about it.

Shouldn't be a requirement. I got fairly annoyed when people kept asking for pictures of an AR lower......

If you don't know what it looks like you're probably not going to buy it anyway.

I think the system is just fine as it is. If a seller is highly motivated, he/she will provide some sort of picture if it is requested. Some things don't need a picture until an individual requests one, so as to verify the condition before purchasing. As for the policy on other forums, well alot of policies are different on other forums, but Calguns is more of a community, if putting pictures in our for sale ads is the biggest grievance we have here, then I think that's pretty good.

Its not a big grievance at all.

Sorry if i came off as complaining. im not.

I just think sales would go by so much quicker and easier with pictures.

Like someone else on here said,

"pictures are worth their weight in gold"

How about instead of a rule; It should be a suggestion. because some of the newer people on here trying to sell guns probably dont even think about posting pictures at first.

HA! Slap yourself, that was a perfect response!

I voted yes...

Maybe a photo rule about things over a specific $$ amount. Just my opinion, if you dont like it you can slap yourself

Im going to have to add that to my sig! Travis, send me a PM if you want me to remove it.

I think if someone wants to post a picture, they will post it.

No Mandate or Rule should be in place.

I don't think anyone will be doing any "slapping." Maybe in your imagination behind the safety of your keyboard... That is about it.

And that is fine that you think that. That is why it is a poll. So you can come here and post your opinion and vote. Then the mods will decide if it is needed or not. IF you would have just came in here saying the first part this thread would have continued smoothly as it hopefully will.

And no i really hope you dont slap yourself.

Ok so how about this. How about putting, in the sticky for the rules, a SUGGESTION saying that you should post pictures in your thread because your sale should go smoother and faster.

Hmmm...I'm a Californian, and I don't think it should be a rule to post pictures.

Obviously a for sale thread with pictures is more likely to generate a sale, and it should be left at that.

P.S. Not all Californians support Big Brother style government. This website is proof of that.

No you should not have to post pics.

However, if a seller wants to sell stuff he/she ought to post pics.

There ought to be a law against mandatory rules.

No. On some stuff you probably should as it will be a benefit to you as a seller. But, there is no need to post a picture of a box of ammo, etc.

Not at all, but what about 200 rounds of UMC .223. Do you really need a picture of 10 green & white boxes? Let the seller decide what the post looks like. If you don't like it don't buy it.

Depends on the product for sale. Emailing photos to interested buyers is sufficient.

It is the sellers item he shouldn't have to.

It is the potential buyers choice to "pull the trigger" so to speak and buy it. If he wants to see it you can either meet the seller or find another deal.

The seller will not be required to post pictures. For one that limits those you are unable to use or get a hold of a camera.

Do pictures help?
Of course they do, and without pictures it is "buyer beware".

Most sellers do post pics, or do so when asked. If they are unable to that is unfortunately their issue.
