Question Safe restoration

I need to restore a old Cary Safe from around 1900. Its been in my family since new. Nothing I'd ever sell.

Searching the internet a name came up time and time again
"LA safe Bob Stabley", but last video posted said he passed in Early 2014

I want to restore a little better than new, not a mirror finish.

looking for a reputable company. Need to be stripped, painted, chromed
and lock serviced.

found couple places back east but this safe is 65" x 30 x 25
not the cute little cube most people post.

I found one on ebay.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Uniq...item3aaf671290

Sorry no help, but you might try calling Dean Safe to see if they have someone they would recommend.

I do remember a thread here a while back where a fellow member restored older safes specifically.

I'm sorry I can't help you with their name but maybe a extensive Google search using the word Calguns.net + safe + restoration might just get you to that thread.

He had some great photos of the safe he was working on so maybe you could do a search for that as well.

Good luck on your search, they don't make him like that anymore.

Perhaps you could remove the lock system yourself and ship it back east. Any reputable auto body shop could restore the safe itself.

There is a member here "TheSafeMover" who is a safe dealer/ service center. Maybe PM them and see if they can do it or know someone.

I believe they are in Temecula

Spoke with Tony the owner of Vaultpro.
He can do RR of old safes. Next couple weeks I'll finish digging out the stuff around the safe and take a couple snap shots.

Called this guy for a months, never returned a call. so don't waist your time with this guy.

Ricks, just to far to drag a old safe there from my location -600 miles RT to drop and that again to pick up . Its a nice SAFE +/-120 years old just don't want to throw $1500 on a $1200 safe that is a antique and not HIGH security.

maybe just post in on Craigslist and sale it as is, someone will want the patina. only one like it sold on Ebay couple years ago for $1200
