Is it possible someone could buy it and close it up?

Cal Fire might have some say about shooting there...

I've learned to not gamble on California.

Why drive past a good shooting range to shoot? RSOs at sbrgc can open a range for private groups and can shoot outside normal range hours.

Because BLM offers a lot more freedoms, well worth it. I've done both and I prefer BLM.

How can it be BLM if it's for private sale?

It's not BLM. BLM land is adjacent to this.

Don't want to upset the apple cart, but people who shoot at the power line tower are on private property. People who shoot where the swiss cheesed Cadillac was are on private property. People who shoot at the abandoned stone house at the bottom of the steep rocky hill are on private property.

I think the risk of it getting shut down is low... seems like the owners are not in/from San Diego and probably rarely, if ever, visit. It's part of an estate sale, so I presume the estate just wants it liquidated.

From a practical perspective, I don't think it would be worth owning that. The sheer number of idiots with guns (I've encountered them) at that location would make it extremely difficult to close off and do anything productive with. But for $50k, I'd probably buy it

ETA: I should clarify that there are a lot of people PROPERLY shooting on BLM land adjacent to this. When I was first introduced to this area 8 years ago, some pretty prominent posters on here were taking folks to private property which (as far as I know) was not theirs to shoot on. If you want to be courteous to those who own property down there, grab an account on AcreValue.com (free for basic info) and make sure you're shooting on public land.

No one is shooting on San Diego BLM land now. Cal Fire shut that down last July.

Look closely. I think I see an outlet tunnel from Mexico.

It would be nice to own some land out there. But trying to make a private range out there would be had to keep others out without a lot of time and money. But it would be nice to have the private land to hunt and camp on though.

Talked to BLM Fire two weeks ago about this. He said, legal to shoot on private land over 10 acres with permission of owner, unless prohibited by other local ordinance, even if BLM land is shut down for fire danger.

I took a look at this area. It's pretty hilly, with the best land for a house under the power lines. It is a perfect place to go camp for a weekend of four wheeling and hunting, though.

Keeping fingers crossed that the new storm will allow the BLM to lift shooting restrictions in SD County.

That is under the perview of Cal Fire. The soil must test wet first and this small storm isn't going to do that. We need about 3~4 of these.

Default County records

Did some research. This land is four different parcels registered in the county of San Diego:

APN#: 650-030-03-00; 650-030-05-00; 650-030-07-00 and 650-030-09-00

Two different agencies have online info:

LUEG: Land Use Environmental Group

SANDAG GIS

Your tax dollars at work.

The property is zoned A72 - "General Agricultural". Owner can build one home per parcel, up to two stories, 35 feet max.
