It'd be nice to get the threaded barrel and use a comp... actually have one on my SU-16 just because. But honestly I'll probably take whatever I can get first.

Ya never know. It might be easier to find the 17 round version and lose the useless mag when things shake out (I don't have a SR and that Glock module is going in as soon as I open the box - because I'm a Glock Fanboy, hahah.)

Already featureless, no neutering required. Breaks down into a much more compact size for transportation allowing you to carry a bag that does not scream "rifle."

If something like this was made in Austria I think 922r would come into play, which may or may not affect you particularly.

That's what I plan on doing once the dust settles.

A factory threaded barrel is worth a lot more to me than a Ruger mag. I'm thinking a muzzle brake from FM Products would be a good fit.

Good thing Glock has an American factory.

Agree 100%, I could care less about the Ruger mag when I have dozens of Glock mags, many 10-rounders here and standard 17-rounders in Nevada.

I have a request in for either version. Told my FFL to keep the mag if I get the threaded barrel version. But I wont mind the unthreaded either. I also have a boatload of Glock mags already.

This one's going to be winner I'm looking forward to the 45acp that will accept 1911 mags version. Very practical gun.

Oh noes, we have to wait until Feb?!!? I guess we have to wait for Shot Show to conclude then we will see the new stuff on the shelves, most of which we wont be able to get in the Republik anyhow.

1) call Glock and they'll send you correct follower
2) buy the $2 follower 9MM3

The 9mm3 followers don't always solve the problem. Many people have reported that the 9mm3 followers cause feeding issues on the 4th to 6th round.

But that is on a Glock, and frankly very few people report this - relatively speaking. We have no idea if this will be any sort of a problem on the new Ruger carbine but I'll go out on a limb and say, probably not.

Plus as alternates, there are blocked mags, G17 mags, G26 mags, Gen 5 mags. It is raining down proven mags for this carbine.

I'm gonna order the 17rd version and have it shipped w/o the mags from out of state. It comes with a threaded barrel.

I'm in....I want it. 9mm is my "house wine". This is a great product idea from Ruger. It comes with a Glock magazine conversion bit. I've seen the video on how you install that and it is dead simple.

I'm definitely a buyer. Will look forward to some actual buyer/user reviewing it here.

I'm looking forward to this little carbine, but 9mm is well bourbon, heheh. Car analogies are annoying to me but alcohol has no effect.

Or this bit from the AR article...

Future plans call for an optic plate that would replace the rear sight assembly to allow mounting of a reflex sight directly to the barrel.

I'd want a 10mm version.

I'm sure someone else mentioned that in this thread, but I didn't want to read 7 pages.

Also from the NRA article:

Quote:
It’s worth noting here that Ruger advises that some Magpul Glock-pattern magazines may not function reliably with the PC Carbine. Factory Glock magazines, however, have been found to function well, as have some other aftermarket offerings, including 50- and 100-round drum designs.

Should be "safe" to shoot steel at 25 yards with this right?
Velocity is a bit higher due to rifle length barrel but it's still pistol caliber.

I would think so.

With a 124gr +P round, the 16" barrel is going to provide an additional ~150-200fps of velocity (compared to a 4-5" barrel), which is about the same as a .357 SIG handgun.

Affirmative, agent88. I hope some are paying attention to your post. That NovX 65gr bullet comes out at 2,031 fps and 595 ft/lbs of energy, and, if you half believe their ads, its expansion is a bad guy's worst nightmare. They didn't provide numbers at 25 and 50 yards, but that's a lot of velocity and energy.

This illustrates something that some shooters refuse to acknowledge, that there are modern 9mm factory loads out there that are much nastier than what was available in years gone by, whether from pistol barrels or longer, and are plenty sufficient for self defense.

Yup, someone will pop up and say, yes, but it's not as fast as "x", like 6.5 Creedmore or something, or yes, but my .45acp develops 596 ft/lbs of energy. Great....shoot what you like, I say. 9mm is my chosen caliber.

I'm going to buy the new Ruger PC9 Carbine. I'd like to have one handy around the house when the unwashed masses rise up from the cities, storming into the suburbs and surrounding towns, demanding the economic justice promised to them by our previous Dear Leader.

Sorry....got carried away there. It'll be fun to shoot.

Yup there's always someone loading a abnormally tiny bullet into every caliber to achieve freakish numbers on paper... every caliber.

Not on that list but also nasty business is the 10mm Underwood loaded with 100 grain Xtreme Defender at 1825FPS or the 115gn XD at 1700.

Yep!
Wow, that's fast too. I have some +P+ Buffalo Bore 115 grain that's only labeled 1500 fps.

I'd love to see what a 10mm traveling 2400+ fps can do... wonder what it'd be out of a carbine barrel.

I'm just stating the obvious but this new Ruger 9mm carbine, that could take Glock mags, has gotten more attention and post that seem mostly positive and hopeful than any other new fire arm that's been posted on Calguns in a long long time.

I sure hope this is big hit for Ruger and they really start to mass-produce them to help bring and keep the prices down.

Ruger listened and gave the market what it asked. I can't wait for different versions such as one with a full length wood stock.

It's also nice we can buy this thing in CA without jumping through any hoops

I sure hope this is big hit for Ruger and they really start to mass-produce them to help bring and keep the prices down.

I was pretty excited about my Walther slide, but I'm way more excited about this Ruger. I think the PC9 was a unicorn for me that I always hoped to find in decent shape for a decent price... never materialized yet and I guess that's a good thing. Personally I like everything about this carbine. Take-down, integrated receiver rail, 10/22 trigger packs, fluted med/heavy contour, maybe threaded, delayed blow-back, GLOCK MAGS.

I have a few MEC-GARS for my P95 if I ever found a PC9... but I have a load of standard Glock mags... short, tall, extremely tall.
