I can find excellent milsurp cans at local hardware stores or farm supply places for the same price as Costco. If you need a lot, look at buying on eBay. Buying 10-12 .50cal Grade 1 boxes comes to $10.50/ea delivered, 15 .30cal boxes delivered comes out to $8.67/ea.

Harbor Freight .50 Cal is normally 15.99. They often have coupons for about 12.99 I believe is what I bought mine for. I didn't want to pay the same price for some rusted and repainted surplus ones so I bought the new HF ones and they seem pretty solid.

It varies by store. I have seen anywhere between 14-18 bucks for them at Costco. Also, I've only seen them sold as a bundle there.

I am assuming you are in San Diego.
Try SBRGC, the have some ammo cans time to time.

These cans are milsurp, so they will have dings, scratches or rust spots.
Just call ahead & ask. If they have some, they will have somebody take it out of the storage shed.

You can pick which ones you want. I believe its $20 for 3 X 50 cal cans, can't remember the price for the 30 cal.

I don't mind paying a bit more for actual milsurp, scratches and all.

Just can't get past the idea of using ammo cans made in China. But that's just me.

I've bought some china made cans before, some were ok. Most had thinner steel used, some had bad seals, but all of the ones I had in my experience didn't stack well. I gave them away to friends that didn't care about my criticisms, but they also don't have tons of cans like I do.

OP, if you can't find any good deals on actual mil-surp cans, wait for more holiday sales. On July 4, PSA had a deal 12 NEW production blackhawk 50 cal cans (quality cans, made in US) for $89.99 shipped, essentially $7.50 a can. Ammocanman also has some good deals, buy in bulk (12+ cans IIRC), even bigger savings around the holidays.

I second craigslist. Keep an eye on it because it seems like someone is always selling some surplus pallet. I want to say 50s are usually like 5 bucks with my guy. Make sure the seals are in good condition. Also be cautious: once you get everything nicely in cans, you'll want to pay Federal 40 extra bucks for ammo because they packaged it in a $4 can

X whatever on Costco.
Also, Sportsmansguide seems to have a good deal on them, and even larger "saw" size and others.
Amazon has a decent deal on plastic decent size ammo containers/storage as well.

Here's a link to a Surplus Store in El Cajon, where I've bought both 30 and 50 cal. cans. But it's been awhile back.

I found some legit surplus cans on amazon a few months ago. They were cheaper than the Chinese ones that the stores around me are selling.
