It would be great for a couple of CalGunners to make this (note: pretty dang sure that Jay was not invited).

NOW, while the hot disappointments of this election are fresh in your mind and heart, is the time to think about what you can do to help Jay La Suer WIN....

....time is relatively short for the task at hand, and "you can't win by too great a margin"....

I wouldn't worry that much about the UT. Nobody reads it anymore. The paper is for sale, the building is for sale (anybody want a ~10,000 sf building in LJ for >$6 million?) and no takers. Few rats swim towards a sinking ship.

I dont think he should use the CCW issuance as a battle cry. Better yet he should keep quiet about his views as the Lords and Dukes will certainly use it against him to scare the plethora of sheeple in this county. I can see it now..

Dont vote for Jay because he wants to give all the crazies CCW's...

I will inquire about volunteering for him.

However, we need to work even harder on getting this state to shall issue. That be the best case.

I wrote a letter to Jay LaSuer, Jim Duffy and Bill Gore. Mr. La Suer and Mr. Duffy called me by phone to assure me that they are pro CCW for self-defense and any legal purpose, and they followed up with a letter. Mr. Gore sent a canned letter stating that he would "continue the fine traditions" of Kolender (Read: NO CCW ISSUANCE). Mr. Gore does not have my support, and in fact, I will work in opposition to his campaign.

I am supporting Mr. LaSuer. The telephone conversation we had was quite genuine, and I am confident that he is on our side! Mr. Duffy seemed genuine as well, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the whole Bush Sr. to Bush Jr. thing, so Jim Duffy will have to work hard to prove he is not expecting entitlement of the position because his dad was sheriff. I know nothing about him otherwise, so I will withold judgement until I start to see his whole platform. Still, on the CCW issue Mr. Duffy has my support.

Shorty, you'll see my truck running around San Diego County with LaSuer signs on each side, and I'll get more involved as the election draws near.

I am also going to publish TWO open letters in the North county Times. The first is an open letter to Kolender. it is aimed at the readers, and is written to get people to start asking, "Yeah ... why CAN'T I have a CCW Sheriff Kolender?" The second letter will reiterate the point, and encourage S.D. County residents to support Mr. LaSuer and Mr. Duffy who both told me they support CCW issuance, having only "in defense of my life" as our 'Good Cause.'

Sheriff Kolender won't hear you or read your letter.

Seems he's pretty far into Alzheimer's and is being led around by assistants.
The drinking doesn't seem to help, either.
Everything in his admin is in a 'holding position'.

At this point, I don't know if Mr. Duffy is sincere or not. He does currently work for the anti-gun RINO Supervisor Ron Roberts...

I do know that when Kolender ran the first time, he had a toady call me to _assure_ me that Herr Kolender was pro-gun, and that "we didn't need any additional gun laws"....'course, this was just after he was on the national Board of Handgun Control, Inc., and while we had an assault weapons ban (IIRC).

And of course, Sheik Obama is pro-gun, too.

...talk is cheap, especially among politicians and aspiring politicians...

....but you all knew that....

Well then I'll address it to the under sheriff William Gore. The purpose of the letter is NOT for Gore or Kolender to read it. The purpose is for some 600,000 San Diego County residents to read it.

Default Jay La Suer for Sheriff, San Diego County, 2010!

Good Evening 2nd Amendment Supporters. My name is Jay La Suer and I am running for Sheriff, San Diego County Sheriffs Department, 2010. I have been keeping up with your forum and I must say, it is great to find so many Americans who hold strong to their 2nd Amendment Rights and share my beliefs. We can change the face of San Diego County and the State of California, but I need your help to do this. If San Diego is to have a Sheriff who represents and works for the people, we must all work together toward that end. Please visit my website at www.SheriffJay.org to see my beliefs regarding CCW’s for law abiding citizens, illegal immigration enforcement and tent jails in San Diego County; YES to all of the above! You can also find me on Face book. If you have any questions for me, PLEASE do not hesitate to email me at and I will answer you as soon as possible. You will receive no politically correct quotes, only the truth. We must win this election in order to ensure our freedom. Jay

So how do we get someone like Jay LaSuer to run up here in Santa Clara county?

I'll probably throw some bucks this guy's way once my finances allow it, even though I don't live down there. One more issuing county is one step closer to shall-issue for everyone in California, IMO.

If both Orange and San Diego got shall-issue sheriffs in 2010, that would be beyond cool.

I've thought hard about this, and I have decided that Jay La Suer is simply not right for San Diego county. He's a great candidate and aoo, but what you guys need is experience--sure, Jay has a lot, but you need even more. You need the really vast, prodigious amounts experience that can *only* come from running the largest sheriff's department in the country. So out of the goodness of my heart, I think we should trade you the *prodigiously* experienced Lee Baca, and we up here in LA County will take on the burden of getting Jay from "very experienced" to "prodigiously experienced."

I know, I know, but you don't have to thank me--it's just the bigness of my heart. I'm always trying to help others....

I totally agree. I think LaSuer would make a great sheriff, but not of San Diego. It doesn't make any sense for him to be sheriff there. No. He should be sheriff two counties to the north. It just seems more right.

Leroy Bacca's career wouldn't have to end. He should be made a sheriff in Somalia, along the coastal area that is infested with pirates. He can tell them that they need a permit to carry their RPGs and AK-47 and he will only give them such a permit if they donate $100,000 to him. I'm sure the Somalis will love him and his innovative ideas.

Anyway, despite my feelings on this matter, and despite me living two counties to the north, I'm donating to him. He would be a fantastic sheriff, for CCW and other issues. We need a large urban county in CA to go officially shall-issue and to have CCW as a campaign issue. It is in OC and now it is also in SD. If both these counties go shall-issue in '10, it changes the debate in this state.

+1. This is an issue for the rest of California, as well, and I think we need to spread the word. I'm not in SD County, but I'll be donating.

Damn, Paypal isn't working for donation. Will try again tomorrow. Or do they consider this to be a firearms-related activity?

I mean, there's an error on the Paypal site when Jay's site redirects to it.

Welcome aboard Sheriff Jay!

It's good to see a public servant who is willing to come out and just talk to the public!
It's a rather refreshing change, especially for those of us living in L.A. where all we hear from our Sheriff and Police Chief are 'proclamations'.

Glad to see you here and looking forward to hearing more from you.

It's a rather refreshing staggeringly mind-boggling change, especially for those of us living in L.A. where all we hear from our Sheriff and Police Chief are 'proclamations'.
Fixed it for you. :-)

+1

Apparently we're not dangerous lunatics that right-thinking people avoid at all costs anymore. :-)

Seriously, it's awfully important to have law enforcement that treats citizens as citizens and part of the solution to keeping society orderly, not as subjects and part of the problem.

Meanwhile, up here in LA county, the masses still yearn to shake off their chains and be free....

Default It takes a team, a HUGE team!

We have an awesome team of volunteers which can use your help. Please visit my website at www.SheriffJay.org, click on "Volunteer" and send your name & number. We have several events in the works such as a Trap Shoot planned for late spring, up in North County. We can really use your help as there are a lot of aspects to a successful event.

Our bumper stickers are in; either email me here or at jay@SheriffJay.org, let me know how many you need, and I will send them to you pronto.

Thanks for your support,
Jay

First,Welcome.

Secondly, thank you for taking a stance for the BOR, and the Constitution on your web site. The fact that you supplied some real answers, to tough questions on your web site, sets you apart from feel good politicians who cater to whatever audience is in front of them.

Honesty and transparency, how refreshing.

Thanks for all the positive comments and support. Let me answer a few questions-
• ANY person can donate-Maximum donation allowed is $500 per person.
• You do not have to be a resident of San Diego County to donate or even a resident of California. But you must be a U.S. citizen (novel concept after this last election, I know…)
• BUMPER STICKERS-email me at Jay@SheriffJay.org; I will send them out to you ASAP.
• Am I the real deal? Check out my website www.Sheriffjay.org or leave a message for me at 619.341.2010 (voice mail) & I will get back to you ASAP. I am a LIFE MEMBER of the NRA…enough said? Oh, and so are my three Grand boys (I bought each one of them a membership the day they were born-I also bought them each a Winchester 94/22 three years ago for Christmas. Questions?
• PayPal is on the fritz-we are currently in the process of yanking someone’s chain at PayPal and rectifying that issue. PLEASE mail a check to: “Jay for Sheriff P O Box 2115 La Mesa, CA 91943 or watch this forum & I will post upon recovery of the PayPal system.

Your support and word of mouth will help change the law enforcement landscape in San Diego County. Jay

Great, thank you. I will post all the information here as well as on my website (www.SheriffJay.org) regarding our upcoming shoot as soon as we have all the details firmed up. At our last shoot in November 2008, "Bring Home the Bird Turkey Shoot" we gave away a Remington 870, a gun safe, and 13 Thanksgiving turkeys, amongst a bunch of other items (t-shirts, mugs, shooting glasses...etc...). We had a great time at Project 2000. You can check out the pic's on my Face book page. I look forward to meeting you there, and thanks again, Jay

Sheriff Jay,
I was reading your endorsement list, and I did not see any Sheriff organizations, or police organizations; Are there some political reasons that a man with your background, qualifications and education, is not being given the nod from these types of professional organizations?

I only mention this as it may come up when endorsing you to others, and it would be advantageous to have an answer.

PatriotnMore-

It is normal for organizations to wait until after the filing closing date to consider endorsements. At this time I have not contacted any political action committees of any law enforcement associations as right now, the most important thing is getting my message out to as many like-minded people as possible.

On another note you may be interested that while serving in the California State Assembly I was awarded Legislator of the year by the following law enforcement and public safety leaning organizations:
1. California State Sheriff's Association.
2. California Sexual Assault Investigators Association.
3. Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff's.
4. California State Law Enforcement Association.
5. California Crime Victim's United (State-wide organization).

These are only a few of the State Legislator of the Year Awards I was presented with during my six years in the State Assembly. However, the most important endorsement I received while a member of the state legislature was the votes of those citizens I represented.

Thanks very much for your comments and thank you for your desire to spread the word about my campaign. Your support and the support of those like you at Calguns.net are exactly what it takes to obtain a victory in 2010.
ON THE ROAD TO VICTORY, Jay
