Default Pics of your NON-black AR-15

There's a few in the big picture thread, but post up your ARs with some tan/green/grey/etc themes...

Not mine, but one that I really like...

Angie and Eiko with their designer non-black rifles

EDIT: HAHAHAHA, I just realized after the fact that David's rifle in the background is also not entirely black.

All the way there! I have a Noveske Recce 16" low pro from Coldwarshooters and a Noveske lower from JKSUPPLY. I also have a Aimpoint Comp M3 with a GG&G cantilever mount to top the works from GG&G. FDE furniture is Magpul including a 10/20 mag. Sweet shooter and turned out to be an awesome looking rifle.

it's on the handguard in between the rails. easy access while holding your AR. adding another vertical grip will make the rifle too heavy.

yeah.. it's magpul XTM rail covers. the rifle has all the shades of black, FDE, oD green and foliage green. easy to install just like playing lego except removing it is pain if don't use a proper technique and the right tool. i use my BB bullet to remove the panels and make sure you push it straight sideways for easy removal.

Default Armalite colors?

NRA HPS,

Are the green stock, pistol grip and handguards the original Armalite colors? Were they military issue or just for commercial use?

I just picked up a set like that from a member here recently, and I was planning to install on a 22LR dedicated build, A2 pattern.

Thanks for any info!

not sure if they are the original colors.. I got the set from Rock River about a year ago and I can;t be positive but... someting sticks in my feeble mind that the green was a military issue at one point in time, but I can't be 100% certain.

LONG ago, back when it was still the M16 and the furniture wasn't plastic (fiberglass I believe), they had Green furniture, but it has not been an issued color for quite some time. I think Armalite stopped doing the green even before Colt took over the rights, to give you an idea of how long ago it was.

I will have to check some out. Is the finish affected by cleaning solvents? I have also heard that it is easily scratched during normal cleaning and handling. Let us know how it holds up after a few shooting and cleaning sessions.

Yes the finish is affected by cleaning solvents. You just have to be careful when cleaning. As for scratches, I do have some on mine (mine is used in thick brush for Coyote hunting). They are just surface scratches and don't show through. I have heard Duracoat is much stronger, but Krylon is easy to get, inexpensive and if something gets messed up, I just touch up that area (haven't needed to yet).
