J Angeles, see my most recent post. It is accurate, real-time information.

And others have given you very good advice as well.

In my interview on march 25th I hadn't listed 2 arrest from 86 and 90 because I was told they had been removed from my records and both had been dismissed. ......wrong the interviewer told me they still show as arrest with dismissed. So a good rule of thumb is to tell them everything! They are looking for good character. The interviewer told me my arrest won't affect my approval because they were so long ago and dismissed. I'm still worried. ......

I don't see any availability in May. That had been opening up the next month on the first of the previous month (e.g., all of April became available on March 1), but that didn't seem to happen on April 1.

The way things are going, I'll get my Live Scan approval on May 17, and find that they stopped doing issuance appointments until July.

I stand corrected. I went back into the appointment page and see only Mondays and Wednesdays open for April. Nothing open in May yet. I thought this UCLA Alum might be getting special treatment.

Very cool. Hope all is smooth for you come Monday.

In a way, the extra time is good. I just picked up a new Sig and though I already qualified 3, was thinking of swapping one of them for it. Gives me time to make up my mind and get it qualified.

There is a training subforum, but since you already did it...

I haven't taken theirs, but when I was trying to decided between the 3 common choices, I called and talked to Jake to ask about requirements and qualification about 6 weeks ago.

Course of fire was standard, both hands an 10 yards or less. Nothing stuck out, if you are competent no problems.

But....what got me...being I don't have holsters since I don't have a CCW (chicken or the egg), is that they require you have a holster. Since I was going to qualify 3 weapons, that meant mandatory buy of 3 holsters.

Since those can be spendy and I don't know how or where I want to carry, I didn't want to end up with 3 holsters I would later off. That kinda put them out of the running for me. They also get you for another $25 each for gun 2 and 3 if you are going to qualify more than the 1. That wasn't a deal breaker as much as the holsters, but something to factor

If you are considering them, best thing may be to call and talk to one of the 3 guys who teach it and see what the latest is.

Just my opinion but presentation from a holster is an important skill and I wouldn't take a class from anyone who didn't include it in their CCW course.

Good to go

Initial Interview: 1/14/15
Approval: 2/17/15
LiveScan: 02/19/15
Determination Notice: 4/17/15
Final issuance: 4/20/15

I have to compliment the SSD officers involved. Everyone I had contact with and dealt with during the process was friendly and helpful.

Forgive me if this has been discussed already... I have heard rumors that SSD allows multiple calibers per pistol as a single line item now. Can anyone vouch for this?

I've already sent an email to SSD CCW, but did not receive a response. Thanks

Does anybody have info. on section 7 of the DOJ application that's used for renewals? They are asking for good cause again. Just say the same, "I wish to carry a concealed firearm for the purpose of self defense." ?

So I called sac ccw today, and was advised my ccw approval is pending, they are waiting to hear from a outside department. My wife got her approval yesterday, I had a ccw in Tennessee, do you think they are checking tn records?, I have a clean record in tn.

Only the Sac CCW unit can tell you which departments they've contacted.

When I was getting my permit, I asked the officer and he indicated they are allowing multi calibers in the way you suggest. They enter both calibers for a given serial # on one line.

Wish I knew that, but the folks doing my cert had told me it takes 2 lines so didnt cert my other caliber. Have to add it as a modification now.

They will contact the California DOJ, and the FBI and search NCIC.

Thanks. I'm awaiting an email response to print out and bring to my requal. It's not listed on the SSD CCW site so it's not "official".

I've seen a Sacramento County permit that had that for one of the guns - essentially gives you 4 guns you can carry (3 bodies, 1 with a different barrel).

I imagine its actually up to 6. Each line x 2.

The example he said they have done several times are the .40's to 357sig. I asked about a slide/barrel swap where the slide lists a diff model. That was a pause with most likely. The example I used there was a 96 slide/barrel in place of the 92FS bits.

My question would specifically tie to revolvers in .357 where the frame itself only lists .357, but I will be carrying .38+p.

The other would specifically be for modular pistols such as the Sig P250 and P320 because they are fully modular.

You will want to qualify with the .38+p - if you ever think you might carry .357, then qualify with that caliber as well. Have both on the permit.

That second scenario is similar to the Beretta example. The top end swaps and the "model" changes based on the engraving. Their concern was the serial number and caliber match.

I did get the impression there was subjective judgement, like anything, may vary over time. Best to verify. But I would also imagine as they seem to make that call there, if you present a cert versus ask for permission first, your chances improve. Worst that could happen is they say no.
