**UPDATE** Coates Carbine lowers although very NICE do NOT fit the easy jig. I guess Ill have to try and finish it with my universal jig Its made from 7075 so I guess its going to be a bear to do.

Like the other posters here have said, The QD lower fits perfect very slight protrusion from the trigger guard on the bottom. There are a few things I like better about the 80%arms lower but the 8 week back order is forcing me to look elsewhere. I had gotten a Coates Arms lower liked the fact it had safe/fire markings, rear pocket was already milled out BUT did not fit in the easy jig.

We check every single lower before it ships out. They all look amazing, as I'm sure other people who received them can confirm. It sounds like maybe yours got damaged in shipping? Please send us a photo. We'll be happy to exchange them.

The black anodizing looks like any other normal black anodizing. We've received a lot of compliments on it. Please post a pic, unsure of what issue you are seeing with yours.

Apologize of the long lead times on lowers, we are doing everything possible to reduce that. It should get a little better as we've been able to up our weekly production a bit. Hoping to be able to knock a few weeks off the backorder soon.

As far as a universal Easy Jig, it's in the works. Given the current backorder on the Easy Jig though, our immediate concern is just getting our backorder times down.
Thanks for y'alls customer service! I emailed and got a quick response as it got closer to the end of the 4 weeks and sure enough it shipped and arrived this week. I love the 2 day shipping you guys do. Can't wait to get started on my lower !!!

I like mine too (ar-15 lower), but I feel like the mag well is a bit tight compared to other lowers. Empty 10/30 mags don't fall out easily when held at any kind of angle. Does anyone else notice this?

80% arms. I loved making my ar 10 lower.
It was my first Ar build ever and I was not nervous one bit. you really did make 80% process EZ

the problem I had was my trigger pocket template was flipped and I cut a little to close to the selector detent hole.( see pic 3 skinned it a little ) It is not as bad as it looks and should be able to hold the detent and spring.

oh + I forgot to remove the rear bushing when I was drilling the rear pocket.
I removed the screw but not the bushing.I am going to have to contact you for another. sorry( This was before you posted the 308 EZ Manuel)

Hey Calgunners, I promise you its worth the wait.
4 weeks in nothing compared to how long i had to wait.
I ordered my Anodized 7075 308 lower on Oct 26 and just got the the email today that it will be shipping.( and this was when they were all hush hush on the game changing EZ jig)

I am a 80percentarms customer for life

Remember, Read the manuel, Watch the video and take your time.

Does anybody have an opinion about using Winbro AlumTap cutting fluid for these lowers?

What do you mean by " modifications" to the jig ? Ive done a cpl QD lowers with the easy jig and they fit perfect except for a slight protrusion of the trigger guard out the bottom of the jig.

There is no protrusion of the lower trigger guard on the JL billet. The Jig need the area where the bumps for the Safety selector to be widened a bit not much.
There is a design difference on the jig on the right side wall plate that needs to be removed it is the narrow maybe half inch wide slot that runs left to right. And the Jl billets will fit perfectly.

The no roll pin design, and the upper tension set screw also the beveled rounded trigger guard. there is also trigger adjustment set screw already drilled and tapped for you. Make the difference for me plus they just look better IMHO.

I called HP Custom in Orange County about cerakoting a lower without a serial number and the guy got pretty angry that I would even dare to ask. He got even angrier when I asked if I had to provide ID. I quickly realized that if I wanted a lower cerakoted I would have to take it with me on my next trip to America. I called Saber River Gunsmithing in Prescott, AZ and the guy told me sure, bring it on in.
Did you have them do it? How did it come out? How much did it cost?

After really working with this jig there are a few things that should be changed that would really save money for 80% arms in replacing damaged lowers. I bet it could almost be eliminated completely. If 80% arms is interested in knowing this contact me.

Sorry for the slow answer... I did not have a lower cerakoted in Arizona. I changed my vacation plans and my trip outside of the enslavement zone this year won't be to Arizona after all. I still think cerakoting might be a good option though. In June I'll be near this shop http://www.mtgunstockcompany.com/index.html. I'll take a look at their work and maybe give them a try.

First thing i would tell people to get a better finish on the sides is to take smaller cuts. The end-mill flexes as it engages a lot of material inducing more chatter. keep about a 1/4 of the end-mills width away from the edges before making a finishing pass. The end-mill pulls down and in toward the material as it cuts. Keep it just right and you will get a much better/smoother result.

What needs to be changed in the manual is to install the lower in the jig with all screws tighten them all down really snug then remove the rear screw and do not put it back in until after you are done with the drilling and milling. My lower never adjusted itself in the jig after it is secured well. This will stop accidents entirely. from milling and drilling through that screw.

Or and even better idea that would cut costs is to stop making the upper rear jig a screw, instead change the design to a peg on both sides that is permanent, protrudes in far enough to hold the rear take down location in position but completely clears the drilling and milling. I might just get to my local machine shop and do this modification myself.

Also shorten the remaining screws and counter sink them so the surfaces are flat and nothing sticks out so the awkward having to use the spacer plates to keep the jig flat while drilling out the sides is eliminated. There is more but these are the important parts.

Not sure if this question is asked here yet, but does the 308 Easy-Jig share the same trigger pocket and rear shelf templates with the AR-15 jigs? I was thinking the LR-308 seems to share the same fire control housing dimensions on many other jigs. Can we simply buy replacement left and right jig walls for the 308 jig and convert our AR-15 jigs for milling 308 lowers?

The AR-15 and .308 Easy Jigs do not share components unfortunately. Due to the differences in size between the AR-15 and .308 lower, we have to make all the parts a bit bigger for the .308 jig to accommodate the larger size of the lower.
