Thumbs up San Diego Support

Hello,
I purchased one of the AR10 Gen 1 lowers with the flared magwell awhile back. I see that you have a jig, but I was wondering if there are any shops in San Diego that can assist me with machine rental time? I've searched the posts and see a few in OC, but I'd prefer not to drive up there if I can help it. Also, great job on the uppers! they look great. What's the current lead time on the uppers? I'll be adding my name to the list to get one soon....hopefully next week.
Thanks.

Dewey

Dewey -

Our Jigs are only compatible with our Gen-2 80% Lower Receivers.

Unfortunately, we do not know of any machine shops in San Diego currently renting time on their machines to assist in completion. There may be further information in other threads / posts.

Current lead time for the Uppers is 4-6 weeks.

Regards,

Genesis CNC

UMD - Our default process is to anodize, however, we can set one aside if you let us know that is what you want ahead of time.

So been arguing with a buddy of mine because he says this is not a good combo since its not a "matched set." Is he full of it or not? Thanks.

Jpkar your buddy is full of it. Matched sets are half real thing , half marketing.

All it means is that the parts are matched for the tightest fit together.
So all the company has to do is keep tight tolerances for the fitment of their upper and lower and from batch to batch (inherently creating a matched set), but at times those parts might not work well with other brands uppers and lowers when you switch them due to varied tolerances from mfg to mfg. Are you planning on building a race gun or 6.5cm or .243 gasser for comp?

It is much harder to do with forged parts and sometimes companies go through mate an upper and lower together (KAC used to do this on early 90's SR-25's) and then drill the pivot and take down pin holes with an upper on the lower to create matched sets.

Also when making a lower from an 80% you can create a matched set just cutting the rear pocket to match the upper, assuming the front of the upper receiver has a good fit. Just cut the rear pocket for the take down pin boss a bit tight and then hand fit it if it's not the same brand or the mfg is sloppy from batch to batch. It's maybe like 15 mins more work. Also keep in mind the type of coating you use for the upper and lower will also change the fitment of the parts. If the MFG specs a certain tolerence for Type III hard ano and then you ceracoat it you are adding a different thickness coating to the part changing their fit.

Anyone know what's going on with Genesis? I don't go public until exhausting all resources, but I paid for a lower and jig in July and I still haven't got it. He returned my emails in Sept and Oct but now he won't respond. I tried ph, email twice, & PM last week and nothing....I'm beginning to get concerned.

I'm still hoping there's a good reason and it's something simple. Genesis did me good on the upper and it's a sweet piece. I really want to finish this build and hopefully at some point brag about the quality and workmanship, but after the phone's disconnected and 4 weeks pass with no response you have to start asking what's up. Kevin, if you are out there please speak up and let me/us know it's just a little glitch, an un-timley delay, and all's good. I'll be the first to say no worries and I was just being reactionary, impatient, whatever. If not, I'd appreciate an honest answer.

Too bad they didnt do the fence on the left side like the KAC receiver.

Default 80% DPMS Gen. II Lower Receiver

Hello,

I am looking to start a project wherein I build DPMS's Long Range .308. I am looking to install the Gen II Upper along with a Stainless Steel 24 inch bull barrel.

The thing that I need to start it with is a compatible 80% Lower Receiver and someone who has experience with milling the lower in the Southern California area.

Can you get me a started?

Many thanks and Happy Holidays,
