Also if ammo distributors/retailers don't have product to move, they won't make as much money (over time that is... obviously at the start of a shortage they will triple their money invested in what they have in stock). But say 6 months or more goes by and everyone has been completely sold out for months.... That will begin to hurt small businesses involved eventually. There is a small gun store in every town across America that may at least feel the effect over time.

Needless to say I bought 4 boxes (1,000 rounds ea.) of Tula 7.62x39 two nights ago. It said that they had 37 boxes in stock at the time I ordered (37,000 rounds). The very next morning at 6:30 am they were completely sold out over night!

I looked on many other sites and some still have it in stock at reasonable prices, but others are sold out and some have already began to raise their prices.

SD Bullion is already selling boxes of 20 rounds for $10.99. That is more than double what I paid.

Not sure how much time there will be to get some before it's gone. If you are thinking about it you might as well just do it. Even if the prices don't skyrocket it's not like the prices will be coming down during all of this.

laxammo.com has boxes of 1000 rounds right now (53 in stock) for $229.50 each. Better get on there now because it might be sold out in the morning

The attachment below is a screenshot a took of some of the Wolf 7.62x39 on sgammo.com SOLD OUT!

only 49 boxes at laxammo now.....

You folks crack me up...don't panic, but let's buy all the ammo and create a panic. This looks familiar. Of course the prices will spike! You're driving the prices up. Buy it all, buy it now!

i bet this was put out after sales of russian stuff has slowed down due to people not want to support russian made items.

create an artificial shortage to spike up the price and create demand.

most basic sales strategy ever.

I can only imagine if all this effort went to short the market instead of pumping it.We could bring the prices down immensely and shoot more often.

If you guys want some ammo, jgsales still has 7.62x39mm for sale. It's been the best price all day actually, except they just bumped it up $30 (for 1,000 rnds) since this afternoon. Enjoy.

And everyone does realize this is all pure speculation, right? Absolutely no evidence that there'll be a shortage. But lets panic anyways!

Bummer!
im not gonna be mean....im not gonna suggest you bought your first rifle during the panic of '12

im not gonna suggest you paid over 50 cents per round for 5.56

cuz if i do....i'll get banned

but....WHAT hits have AK guys taken to their wallets ?
AK74 is 18 cents a round delivered
AK47 is 23 cents a round delivered
PAP 7.62 pistol is $399
PAP 5.56 pistol is $399
NPAP lo-cap with 20 10 round mags is $449
O-PAP is $579
saiga already converted in 5.45 OR 7.62 is $549

are these CRAZY prices to you ?????

cuz when i sell 22lr at 10 cents a round....and 5.56 lake city at 50 cents....which is DOUBLE what i bought it for, and look forward to "panic buying"

well.....thats whats crazy to me

Wife thought I was crazy buying 5 cases of it (one case per gun show over a couple of years) but these last few years she hasn't been laughing as the price has more than doubled over that time. My AR seems to like the new Red Army Standard so I figured I'd grab some, and maybe over time (not all in one huge gulp that empties the store shelf) I'd build up a comparable supply of the Red Army stuff. I don't need to be sitting on thousands of pounds of the stuff, but as long as I can fit it all in the trunk of my wife's VW Beetle I won't feel like an out-of-control hoarder because that's a supply I could conceivably use up in just a couple year's time.

What really gets me is these people who just buy a box or two on the way to the range. If something happens to the supply pipeline those are the folks that always get hosed. Which is fine I suppose if you are a shooter who just considers this a hobby and if there's no ammo you'll just go windsurfing or play video games instead. Some of us are into it for more than just entertainment value, and supply availability is crucially important. I hope and pray a day never comes that proves this viewpoint beyond all doubt, but I would rather be wrong and ready than rue the day I spent $300 going on a fun vacation rather than making sure my family had the ammo they needed. Of course, if you can do both, then do both of course. It's just that some people never think ahead when times are good, then find themselves in a pickle when crunch time comes. It's a story as old as the grasshopper and the ant, because it reflects an aspect of basic human nature that I am working to move beyond.
you're a cook stop depriving your family of vacations.

This afternoon I bought a crate of 7N6 and 1k 7.62x39 from SGAmmo because the price was about right.

Then while looking through another panic thread I purchased 1k 5.56 from PSA because of their free shipping through Sunday.

I managed to only buy about 1k rounds total during the last almost 1.5 year panic needless to say I wasn't shooting as much and my supply was starting to dry up. I think most shooters now are hyper sensitive to this type of thing occurring again. Which is why I decided to purchase this particular ammo at a good price slightly ahead of schedule.

There's nothing that can be said to prevent what is going to happen or about to happen a panic is already spreading it won't be stopped .

This was posted on 3/5 and I heard about this being a possibility for sometime now.

The panics will NEVER stop. Fact of the matter is most gun owners are a jumpy bunch and any bump in the night creates a frenzy.

Ask the older guys about all the ammo panics.

It is endless

The panic talk is just plain ridiculous. There are 2 threads just in the semi-auto section of the site, how many more throughout the site and there are a few threads on ak-files, ar15, etc...the gun community created the panic with the help of a paranoid nut, AJ.
This is an artificial panic. I can't understand it. If you've been shooting for a little while and don't have enough ammo for trips to the range and a back up stash...then a HD stash then you're an idiot.

did I buy some Russian ammo lately...YES! but that's because I saw it sitting on the shelf at the store and I never shoot TulAmmo so I wanted to test it out but its not like I'm trying to start stockpiling now for the second coming of the Cold War.

I can only imagine how the gun shows are going to be. I'm heading to the Costa Mesa show next weekend and I know the ammo lines are going to be super long. And retailers will take advantage of the "panic". CTD is a perfect example.

Wake up people!!!

Yea, sgammo had a run on all comblock 7.62x39 ammo. A click further and I can see there is still plenty of commie ak/sks food "in stock". I will not drink the panic kool-aid...for now.

Lol, legitimate news source or it didn't happen. If I had a box of ammo for every "the sky is falling" type post from some random prepper/shtf blog, I would be a rich person right now

LAX sold every case last night... just got more in...

but now the price is $240....

I think I paid $215 just a couple nights ago (that's a 12% increase in just a few days)

rising 6% per day... won't be long before a case is $500 and you are are only allowed to buy 1 case if you can even find one in stock anywhere

It was my understanding that WE were going to stop imports from Russia as part of the stern talking to, tough talk, sanctions, lines in the sand or whatever Dear Exalted Leader is calling it.

Could be wrong?

Probably won't be permanent like slikwilly & China.

Don't believe the hype.... its all rumor. Plus Russia isn't the only exporter of 7.62x39... there's probably around 30 other countries that export ak rounds... we are our own worse enemy when we hear The words "halting" and "ammo" in the same sentence..... DONT PANIC

Very true.... AND.... we all have every right to be jumpy when we are under constant attack by the gun and ammo grabbers.

Just look at whenever an old geezer gun owner kicks off and his kids find ammo from the 1970s piled up in the garage lol.
That geezer with ammo from the 70s is a piker. I've got ammo from the 50s!
