Default MEGA maten 308 muzzle brake and BCG

Not being able to sleep last night ended up costing me. I decided to order a few parts to get my 308 build rolling.

DPMS lower parts
Geissele SSA-E
Magpul PRS .308 stock
Battle arms ambi selector
Syrac adjustable gasblock w/ clamp.

In 2 weeks I'm going to order a Mega Arms 18" barrel and need recommendations for a quality Muzzle Brake and BCG?

Thanks in advance.

Mega BBL requires a DPMS format bolt. Midway had complete DPMS BCG is stock the other day. Probably the best bet right now.

Not true.. Armalite works just fine and is better quality than the DPMS unit. A jp bolt and dpms carrier is a good option too. You just can't mix and match bolts and carriers.

I have the Precision Armament M11 brake on my 308 Maten. It gave my 20" the aggressive look that I was going for.

My BCG is a factory 308 dpms and it functions flawlessly

I've got one of these on my rifle.

http://shop.battlearmsdevelopment.co...AD-MRAD-RB.htm

I have a heavy fulton barrel on my rifle and the OD of this brake matches perfectly. I like it because it's easy to remove for cleaning the barrel and crown. When you're pushing patches through the barrel to clean it you won't pick up any filth from the baffles of the brake and you'll know for sure when the bore is fully clean. No need to torque a brake on with a crush washer or shims to time it properly.

Why is that? I've spent many a dollar in front of the glow of a tablet in the middle of the night. Waking up the next morning is like xmas knowing you have cool stuff coming.
On a side note, I have a Maten MKM lying dormant, I'm outta here before it wakes up!

I just built up my MATEN. I went with a DPMS BCG and a Spikes Dynacomp. Hope to shoot it this weekend.

Regarding your gas block, if your rail will be covering the gas block, make sure your clamp-style gas block (from your post, it sounds like that's what you got) will fit under the rail.

I made the mistake of buying a clamp-style gas block that ended up not fitting inside a Centurion CMR rail. I ended up having to buy a different bock (set screw model).

I also liked the look of the PA M11 or the JP brake. I'm also considering the battlecomp but that $200+ price and the fact that 2 of my AR's already have the 2.0 is making me want to try something different.

The rail on the Maten MKM looks like it has enough to clear it ...... I hope it does.

I'm running a DPMS Chrome BGC, on my 2nd extractor, will probably replace the bolt with a JP later. Muzzle brake is a PWS FSC30

The JP brakes are good to go. While you're at it, you should check out the JP low mass BCG & silent captured spring system. These three items will really make your rifle run smoother, allow for quicker follow up shots, and reduce the recoil to almost that of a .223 round. The downside, if you're at a busy range, people on either side of you might not appreciate the concussion wave and the noise the JP muzzle brake puts out and the BCG & spring aren't cheap. I'm hooked, my JP l/m BCG & s/c spring will be delivered on Monday for my custom SPR build.

That's a JP brake. I have one in stainless on mine. The concussion wave alone at the range makes it fun to shoot. Pisses off my neighbors and scares the ladies.

Bcm just came out with a 7.62 comp. i would go with that and a jp low mass bolt. The mega is too nice for anything less.

Almost got into a fist fight with the guy next to me over a LOUD brake. I told him to double up (earplugs and muffs) and stop being a whining little *****.

He seemed to not like my tone too much

Dont like my brake? You sure as hell wont like my rifle butt.

If I go with the JP bolt. Do I need to match it with the JP buffer?

I hate when people complain about this, don't come to the range if you're scared of loud noises
