Default Optics for 50 Beowolf?

Finally after 10 months of waiting my 50 beowolf upper is on the way. I have ammo, new brass, reloading dies, bullets, powder. But I dont have any kind of sights/optics for it. What say you Calguns? I have an eotech on another gun and I like it and am considering buying one for the 50. Should I be considering anything else? and why?

I use an Eotech Exps2-2 with magnifier. Works great.

I'm thinking I want an red dot/ holographic style sight, like eotech or aimpoint. about $500 is the most I want to spend.

It will but the 4moa dot won't give you very good accuracy at 100 yards .

You can get an EoTech 512.A65 for around $400. It's a quality optic and the reason it's cheaper is because it's not NVG compatible which isn't a concern for 99.999% of us here. If you really want a simple dot, an Aimpoint PRO sounds like a good choice. Also around 400.

the term is precision.

but the Strikefire is great! I have used a couple of them on various rifles both in .308 and 5.56 and have had no problem.

That said, I would get a lo-magnification scope (1-4x) such as the Burris MTAC or the like.
Burris is discontinuing the MTAC and you can get great deals on them right now, usually with a Fastfire III that you can either keep or sell for about $200 to help defray the cost of the optic.

here it is at SWFA for instance.
with a Fastfire III and PEPR mount for $599
http://swfa.com/Burris-1-4x24-MTAC-3...pe-P53420.aspx

or without for $399
http://swfa.com/Burris-1-4x24-MTAC-3...pe-P50898.aspx

Just another point of view for you.

Last, if you want to buy a Strikefire and the 3x mag both in ADM lower 1/3 quick release mounts, I could be swayed to sell them - mostly so I can convert the rifle they are on to a lo power as I have suggested above.

I have a .458 socom and I'm also searching for an optic/red dot. I think what I'm going to do is get a 4x16 scope which is considered way over glassed for a .458 and use it to work up some loads. The idea is shooting .458 is very expensive and the scope should help me get dialed in a bit faster than a red dot. Once I find some loads that are acceptable I will take the scope off and use it for my next build which Im leaning towards something like a 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 or maybe a .223. The .458 will get a red dot or a 1x4.
