You were able to retire, albeit not as well?
Scary when you could be replaced by 3 22 year olds at your salary. Even though the employer loses institutional knowledge.
I work for a government agency that doesn't get hit.
I left the corporate world behind in 1999. The corporation went public. Fired 75% of their employees and hired temps depending on the business cycle.
There were quite a number of people nearing retirement or in that 1/2 way point so everybody got screwed.

I file and pay taxes, but I have yet to get any kind of return.

Colt 1911. Maybe, some furniture. I live in a studio/cabin, with boxes labeled "clean" and "dirty," a safe, a motorcycle I'm rebuilding, paper plates, a bed and a laptop. God, I feel for you married guys.

I haven't decided. I have the urge to buy something, but I want to save most of it. That or invest in something that will increase value over the next few years. I could use some ammo, I want to build my first Ak, a new pistol would well suit my solo pistol collection. I've also considered buying my dad a personal trainer session for a few days. He won't get off his *** and meet me in the gym, but maybe hell meet the beautiful little blonde I worked with a few weeks ago.

I think I'll get around $1000 so $700 of it goes to pay off my debt on that new gas range I bought from bestbuy and the rest of it goes towards an AR lower parts.
