Only certain gun/ammo related parts are not allowed and I think CGF withdraws the funds ASAP.

We are well aware of PayPal's issues, but these are charitable contributions and that is clearly allowed under Paypal's terms of service.

If you don't want to support them, simply drop a check into the USPS to the address at the top of the thread and save CGF the PayPal fee.

And if you are too lazy to write a check, address an envelope and put a stamp on it, you can setup an online bill payment with your bank to have the bank send the check for you. And possibly set up monthly automatic bill payments as well.

Bumped to add the direct link to PayPal for credit cards and Paypal.

For those that do not wish to use paypal, please use USPS.

We will be adding a direct credit card account but there are more pressing matters.

I, like many here I'm sure, look forward to seeing CGF attain its 501(c)(3) status. Be sure to let us all know when this happens as I'm sure this will result in a bunch of larger donations from businesses and/or individuals who itemize who would rather give money to you then the IRS.

Ryan,

Though there is a risk that we would not obtain 501(c)(3) status it is both:
a) Quite likely.
b) Retroactive in the current tax year.

So, should we get that we will then send out thank you letters for your deductions.

All,

Doing a little back of the envelope (and without the actual figures in front of me but going from the actual figures reported recently) we've raised about $10K since 11PM on Heller day.

That doesn't include any checks that have been mailed in. I'll see those starting on Monday.

Gene,

Bill Pay from my bank added and money sent; hope your 650 number was the right one to use; is there an official CGF phone#? My bank requires that for Billpay.

Also keep us posted on the non-profit status; as I'm sure my businesses can use a tax deduction as well.

They won't, charitable contributions are a different story.

For now anyone who objects to supporting paypal's anti-gun organization, please just send a check or use online banking.

The goal behind paypal could be read to remove funds from existing calgunners' paypal balances so they can't make the money off the float

Same here. I figured the phone number wasn't too important so I put in a dummy one (or my own, can't remember). Billpay on the way!

But, I'll change the phone number if there is a suggested one.

Your donations are critical right now. The more dollars we have the faster and harder we can press. We have a unique opportunity to be both on the offensive and turn a couple of defensive situations from defense to offense.

Every donation gives us that much more fire power to really reclaim our rights and our respect in California.

I would like to make a contribution, and have a question: Does the CGF charter state that all funds are to be expended solely within California? And spent solely by CGF, not handed to NRA or other entities on CGF's behalf?

We have not restricted ourselves to solely expenditures in California because it may make strategic sense to bring cases like commerce clause challenges in another circuit but against CA. What I can say is that we are restricted to advancing California issues. Another example of an out of state expenditure is an advertising/information campaign we're likely to run to educate out of state FFLs in how easy it is to comply with the silly CFLC thing.

Should we ever close up shop, the funds have to go to a tax exempt non-profit operated exclusively for the protection of the civil rights of firearms owners. There are no gaurantees about who that would be, but it will be quite a while before we decide there aren't significant enough California issues to deal with.

We're going to be working with SAF and NRA (and others) - but not for either of them.

It would be highly educational to see some accounting numbers..... let's say once a quarter?
I just donated $100, (second time - first went to law firm directly, before you setup) and prepared to do quarterly, but no offense - I don't want to be the only one donating.

We are solidly approaching $25K total raised since inception. The main item holding us back from more routine reporting on the finance side is setting up our accounting software.

Also, we need to be a bit careful detailing which cases were spending on for strategic reasons regarding the other side.
