Where in the Bay are you?
What kind of matches?
There are action matches at Chabot Gun Club, United Sportman, and Richmond Gun Club. Even Sac.

All three are pretty close. Check out their webpages for safety class info and schedules and then pick a match and have fun. (Chabot does not have a safety class requirement.)

Thanks for that I've been meaning to check out 3 gun comp. what I am mainly interested in is improving pistol performance. So anything pistol will go.
You're pretty much limited to a 1911 though in ca correct?

You are not limited to gun choices. Just mag capacity unless you had them here before y2k.

Chabot 3 Gun is not for first time competitors.

All 3 clubs run pistol matches.

That's me. I still do the list, but I'm behind right now because of some personal and work stuff. I'll try to have the list up before the turn of the month.

I would suggest you start with USPSA at Chabot before moving into 3-guns, unless you are already familiar with action shooting events.

Its not about the guns, more about the rules and how the match runs.

Furthermore, if your goal is on improving handgun skills, USPSA is more focus on handgun than 3-guns.

There are other handgun events in Chabot anyway, PPC, steel silhouette, bulleyes...etc

Actually a little more like my father having the inconsideration to die on me. I'm very displeased with this turn of familial events.

But, yes...I am liking my wheel guns recently (at least for IDPA).

I think Sunnyvale R&G has matches as well. Some of the indoor ranges have their own versions of club shooting matches.
