To keep it from turning into a complete hosefest, you guys did the right thing by mixing in hard cover, no shoots and head shots at 50y. That is how you make IMG scoring work and still be challenging.
Also, can you please review the verbiage on your score sheet? In particular, the penalty for shooting at a target and missing it. The score sheet used a different term for it and I couldn't understand it. IMG scoring is standardized with 'Target Engaged But Missed' and it's a 10s penalty. The 'Target Not Engaged' penalty was clearly understood.
BTW, any reason why you guys haven't gone electronic scoring with Practiscore yet? I shot a local match (much smaller than Norco) in Virginia and those dudes had 6 used iPod touches, a laptop and a router. They synched to each other so there wasn't a need for internet connection. 10 minutes after last shot, they had scores. It was very simple to use and required little investment.
I'll ask the principles to research the scoresheet and sticking with IMG scoring.

Regarding practiscore, the club has been evaluating this path for some time also.

Scores updated on www.jvindustries.net

See right column..

Thanks!

Awesome that the scores are posted...but mine are off.

I was 29.29 with two misses (+ 10) for what should have been a net score of 39.29 on Stage 6. My posted score was however 84.29.

I think I know what happened. The score keeper used roman numerals "II" to denote my two misses. When the score got recorded, I got 11 misses! Hahaha.

This happened again in stage 5 scoring (44.87 vs 90.87). Not sure if it's worth pursuing since I got a 500 for the stage that I didn't complete so out of any contention.

Perhaps the lesson here is to have some uniformity in the scorekeeping. Either whole or roman numbers so there's no confusion.

PS - I took a pic of my scoresheet at the end of the day never thinking I would need to refer back to it. Either way, super fun, work out the kinks and see everyone at the next shoot. I vote for 2nd Sunday but welcome the collective wisdom of the group. ;-)

I agree KDruff2, ...

Growing pains.. we'll all get it sorted out by the next match as we all become acclimated...

Hence why EVERY shooter needs to be involved and learn the scoring versus just an attendee. When I first started shooting sports, we had to be members of a club with annual dues. Get there early to set up the stages and stay late to tear down the stages. All voluntarily.

As you can see the shooting sports (USPSA, IPSC, IDPA, Multigun, outlaw) have evolved and no need to set up and tear down. But it's still is a group, volunteer effort, where we help each other enjoy the sport during the match. Not just pay match fee , shoot and watch others.

(I was able to shoot in the Philippines, that's a different story. I was fortunate to have people RO, Tape and reset targets for me. Hold my shooting bag, hold an umbrella and even load my mags!)

But we're not in the Philippines....

I missed out on this! When is the next match? Are the stages set to shoot amongst your own squad?

Dutifully noted GunFu. For this to work, it's got to be a two way street (organizers and shooters).

Shout out to my bud, newbie RayPDA, for taking 1st in rimfire iron. Clearly a scoring mistake!

1st Sunday is Prado USPSA
2nd Sunday is Pala 3 gun
3rd Sunday is X3 3 gun
4th Sunday is SWPL USPSA
Saturdays are spoken for.

3 gun and tac rifle have greater overlap than the pistol competitions, so assume we don't want this to conflict with X3 or Pala. Then do we have more overlap with Prado shooters (5 miles away) or SWPL (60 mi)?

However, I am curious how many of the tac rifle shooters shoot neither USPSA nor 3 gun. Maybe there's less overlap than we assume on a 1st or 4th Sunday.

I would rather shoot Prado and then shoot tac rifle on the 4th Sunday instead of SWPL solely on proximity.

The 4th Sunday would work too. And I'd reiterate again that if you went to Practiscore, it would help to fix the scoring issues.
And you are right, gun fu, that volunteers help make matches possible. I do want to also note that at $40 a person with almost 100 shooters builds quite a purse for the club, which can use some of those funds to make matches more enjoyable and run smoother. And make it it profitable for those who hold it.

At Raahauges, the majority of that $40 goes to the range.
