Default Costa Mesa CCW ?

Hello Folks, I am wondering if anyone has any insight into the difficulty (if any) in obtaining a CCW in Costa Mesa? I appreciate any input. Thanks.

Take your index finger and with the point of it, touch your thumb. Then very slightly separate the two. Then divide that space by 1,000. haha.

Just messing with you here. But it's nearly impossible.

It's not a Costa Mesa CCW, it would be Orange County CCW that would only allow you to carry in OC in areas that it isn't prohibited. Apparently the sheriff that is in charge of approving them, doesn't and if IIRC, is being sued by the NRA.

Here's the OCSD link to applying OCSD CCW App

Unless you have the need as LEO or something related, it's not going to happen no matter how many classes you pay for or certifications you obtain.

I talked to the last Chief about it and he was very against normal people carrying and deferred to OC Sheriff (Hutchens). I haven't talked to Gazsi about it however.

Not going to happen. Hutchens clamped down and actually revoked a slew of them when she took office.

My wife, who runs the family business, actually began the process to get one (she's already got all the firearm training) and was told she'd need to justify it in relation to a specific threat. One threat that was cited was carrying large sums of money daily to the bank for deposit.

This would have to be a signed & notarized letter from her merchant bank stating that she made almost daily deposits in excess of $10,000. Her bank branch manager balked and said they would not provide such a letter.

We had our doubts that even if she did provide it she would have been granted one, so she dropped pursuit of it.

As a resident of OC, you would apply via OC Sheriffs. Once obtained, the CCW is good for all of CA sans prohibited areas. The top portion of the CCW from OC Sheriff's states, "License to Carry Concealed Pistol, Revolver or Other Firearm Within the State of California." The core issue is justification for a CCW via your good cause statement.

So the small business owner who only makes $1k in daily deposits doesn't have a life worth protecting as much as one who deposits $10k. So stupid.

The problem with the system is that it boils down to an individual deciding and not a set of qualifications.

What he said! Hutchens won't be handing them out ever. So when elections come around, let's vote in someone 2A friendly!

She may not run again. Anyways, we should all get the word out to register and then to vote for Hunt who will restore our right to carry.
