Default Registered Respiratory Therapist or any other type of job

Hi guys im a recent new grad from Concorde Career College. I finished taking all my licenses so I'm now an official RRT =)
Socal is pretty impacted saturated though with respiratory therapists so its pretty tough getting in anywhere. I was also in the military for 5 years as an infantryman. I was hoping anyone had any leads as to what hospitals or places like to hire primarily veterans?

Try Pacific Nursing Care in long beach. My brother-in-law's first job as an RT and blew it. "YOUNG" grads just don't understand the true meaning of how hard it is look for a job that's new in your profession without experience. I'm sure he learned his lesson or maybe I should send'em to boot camp, LMFAO. Good luck brother...

Lol yeah saturated is what i meant. Thanks for the mental image haha.

If you're looking for a job that primarily hires Vets, how about the Department of Veteran Affairs Hospital? usajob.gov has a list of places. Hope this somewhat helps.

Primarily Veteran??? I am not sure there is anything like that around the bay area, not even at the VA from my medical experience. You will be hired based on your clinical performance & ability to convince the panel interviewing you. Check Stanford Hospital, there might still be opening for Per-diem. Also Keizer Hospital will be opening a new facility in San Leandro, you might wonna give that a shot too. It is better to try and personally meet the Resp Manager of any hospital you apply to. For any opening there are like 400 applicants and majority will get knocked out by the HR folks without their files ever getting to the department.
If there is an opening @ Stanford (adult) and you feel like applying, shoot me a pm. Good luck

They told me theyll let me know in two weeks but i dont think im going to get it. My friend was up for the position too but before he could interview they told him they didnt want any new grads. So i guess i made it through the cracks but if theyre only wanting someone with a minimum of 1 year then i dont think ill get it.

The registry isnt really working out. The hosptials only want someone with one year of experience so I cant be sent out there.
What I could use is a solid part time job with a set schedule so I can get some income in. I have my guard card and used to work for Picore Beristain Initiative. I wouldnt mind working in a gunstore or shooting range either.

My wife is an RT at Kindred but is currently on maternity leave.. When she goes back I will have her keep her an eye out for any opening, but from what I hear they are few and far between these days. At least you got in with a registry thus far... After you gain some experience registry is a good way to expand your income on your off days.. Back in the day my wife was making more working registry then she did at her regular job.

Thanks man =]
I actually got hired at Providence as per diem but haha I barely get called here too cause it's summer time so it's pretty slow right now. Yeah registry pays pretty good but I just gotta wait till I hit my one year experience so I can be called up by them. I've been trying to look Into sub acutes as well.
Congrats on the future baby!
