Tracer ammo is a no go in CA.

I've been here three years and I have missed every single one. I really need to hit this one up.

There were several other "super secret zombie shoots" or something, but I don't think they were "official" Calguns events. They were held out in BLM land somewhere. I believe the Burro Canyon Zombie Shoot was the first of these events at Burro Canyon Range. I'm not sure enough to bet on it though.

I am going to try to make it again, last year was an absolute blast. Does anyone know if they will have the training group back that did the walk and shoot? The name escapes me right now, but they had tarps set up like walls and you would walk through as if clearing rooms.

I don't know anything about night vision. I was at Gun World a few weeks ago and overheard the sales guy tell a customer that NV is illegal in CA. Didn't mention active IR illumination.

I'm guessing that means it illuminates itself instead of using ambient light.

Yep, a weapon mounted night vision optic is ok so long as it is passive only with no built in artificial illumination. Problem is, most all units have built in illumination.

PVS-7 or 14 on a helmet are still GTG. Gonna bring mine.

Are you me? Planning on bringing my PVS-14 and helmet for the shoot. Any recommendations for low-intensity red laser? I figure aiming the gun with a helmet-mounted NVD would be difficult at best, so why not use cool LAZERS?

First Post Updated!

We added a Shoot House, low light drill with Five Arrows Tactical... be careful though.. Zombies might appear out of nowhere.

MrLoneWolfs warm belt fed and exotics range is going to be a very popular range, it's based on a first come first serve basis, so get there early!

Working on a few other items at this time.

A few general questions:

1. Which ranges will we be occupying (so I know if I need to bring tables, chairs, how much back and forth to expect, etc.)?
2. Will the red glow sticks be available for purchase there or do we need to supply them ourselves?
3. What kind of targets are allowed this year? (i.e. no explosives, metal, bio or environmental hazards, or non bio-degradable items that can't be cleaned up. any other limits?)
4. Will bowling pins be available?

To answer a few questions:

If you are going down range, you need two separate red glow sticks.

Red Glow Sticks WILL NOT be allowed on any targets down range. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDNLY.

Glow sticks will NOT be for sale at the shoot.

Burro Canyon is selling target stands and ammo if you run out or can't find anything, but I wouldn't count on that, as they are often sold out of specific stuff.

The ranges for general firing will all have tables, however, a small table and chair may be a very good idea.

Targets: No metal, no glass, no reactive targets. Everything else is fine, including fruit, veggies, plastic bottles, tennis balls (past 25-50 yards) etc, assuming everything non biodegradable is picked up, and everything degradable is shot into tiny tiny pieces.

I would STRONGLY suggest making a very unique target.
I would also avoid using a shotgun on the rifle range.or you will very likely have very pissed off neighbors.

Tables are on a first come first served basis. Please use common courtesy. No need for a group of three, to have three tables.

A few people brought cheap gun racks to leave their guns to have more "table room" on the actual range side.

Burro Canyon might have bowling pins available. They usually do.

Did I cover everything?

So if you don't have nightvision or fancy lasers and stuff, you'll basically be shooting into the dark...? No flashlights allowed?

Sounds good, I'm in!

The ranges will be the pistol range, and rifle range. You will have up to 350-400 yards to shoot at. Far more then you need at night.

On the ticket purchase webpage it says the event is from 5-8, but the details say shooting stops "around" 10. Can we get a more definite time as to when the shooting will stop for those of us who are wanted to go but will not be able to make it exactly at the start? Thanks.
