Default Covering your nice phone

I've come to realize that I'm in the minority here.
I just don't get the "naked" cell phone thing. That being said, most cell phones are very fragile devices that shatter their screens if dropped on a hard surface.
I see more shattered screens these days than ever before. iPhones seem to be the biggest culprit due to their popularity.
I've never been concerned with the style of the phone as much as the case that protects it. Let's face it, you really don't see the phone with the exception of the face if you put a case on it.
I keep reading bad reviews about the crappy plastic on my soon to be delivered Samsung Note 3. I say so what, I'm going to cover it anyway.
How many of you guys protect your phones with a good case?

I've been protecting my phone for a while now. When I got the Galaxy S3 I kinda went a bit overkill and got an otterbox as well as the military grade assault screen protector from zagg.

Never really liked having a case on my phones, I just pay extra for insurance and if I ever break it, I just get a new one.

No case on my S4 - I'm not a huge fan of the added weight/bulk.

I use a cheap Verizon case with holster (I like the belt clip) I don't something that big & fragile in my pockets.

I may get the otterbox though as I see they now have a belt clip.

I've talked with plenty of shattered screen phone users that don't and never have carried insurance. Just don't want to put on a case to protect there investment.
Fortunately I've never lost, had stolen, or broke a phone. I figure I'm pretty careful with my phone and insurance is just an expense I can live without. At $10 a month, I figure I could have paid full price for a replacement a couple times over in the last 25 years. Wow, saved 3k in 25 years!
Some cases look and feel much better than the naked phone itself.

All I use is a bumper style case on my iPhone 5. I just don't care to put a case on a phone that was designed to be thin and sleek, nor putting a screen protector on a screen that was meant to be crisp and vibrant.

But that's me.

I bought my dad an iPhone 5 last Christmas and I also gave him an Otterbox Defender cause I know he'll probably drop the thing.

I always put a case on my phone, but feeling a naked phone is oh so nice after you've had the case on for a while lol

I don't own a cell phone, nor do I want one. But if I did, it would depend on the design as to clothe it or not.

Magpul executive field case wrapped around my iPhone 4S. 2 years running and many fumbles later, not a scratch.

My S4 lives in an Otterbox defender, the Galaxy before it in a commuter. I work on cars, have tile flooring at home, kids, try to enjoy the outdoors. My phones live a rough life, I doubt they would survive without a case.

Most of my friends had iPhones and maybe half have nice cases over busted screens. It amazes me how so many purportedly responsible adults can't take care of their stuff.

After having too many messed up phones, I learned how to take care of my belongings better and I thoroughly enjoy not having a case on my iPhone.
A scratch or two on the screen doesn't bug me. I know not to set my phone in my pocket when I have keys, change, or empty beer bottle caps in that same pocket.
I know I have a nice, expensive piece of technology in my hands and my care 24/7 and I treat it properly.

I use a screen protector and a d3O armor case. First was exposed to d3O in Knox motorcycle armor.

My iPhone 5 is in a 2 layer case. Outer is plastic/brushed aluminum and inner is rubber. I also have a screen protector. I'm way too rough on phones to not have a case, even though I'd rather not.

I've broken screens, put baseball cleats through the back, smashed corners and taken phones swimming (figuratively). I'll take all the protection I can get.

This.

I had my iPhone 4 for over 3 years, and it lived in an Otterbox Defender with front & back screen protectors from Zagg. I traded it in at Gamestop the other day, and when I took it to the store that was the first time since summer of 2010 that the phone had been bare. I got enough extra in trade-in credit to pay for the case and screen protectors MORE than twice over, compared to the average condition of iPhone 4 trade-ins. The guy actually asked if I had ever even used the phone before.

My 5S has the same setup - Defender + Zagg. Well worth the money.

I think of my phones as tools and not jewelry, though some phones are very sleek and sexy. I tend to beat on my devices without mercy, so I like having bumper-style cases. Plus, ever since the HTC EVO came out with a kickstand, I've been a big fan of using bumper-style cases that add a kickstand, on all my phones since then.

I once accidentally ran over a phone with a fullsize chevy truck while camping, and although it was pretty scratched up, it still worked fine.

I'm currently using a Sedio kickstand case on my Note II, and think it's great.

I've been using an otter box defender, my wife has an otter box commuter. The phone inside mine looks like the day I bought it though the case has been to hell and back.

I've always just went with a cheap soft black silicon case for my galaxies (on s4 now), which then fit into a wilderness tactical smart phone case. silicon case allows me to handle phone easier with one hand; wilderness case rides on belt and I will never consider another case for belt carry. period...

My Galaxy S4 is my first smart phone so I'm pampering the thing. I didn't get the crazy hundred dollar case, but I did carefully think out my decision while shopping on Amazon. Went with the IBlason for about $15. Has a 2-piece rubber/hard plastic cover for the body, and a separate belt clip unit that for me, protects the screen. I'm happy with my purchase despite the added bulk. Perhaps after a year or two, I won't baby my phone so much.

Otter box for my iPhone 4. But it's not as nice as the one I had on my 3 (now my iPod). The rubber outer case is essentially falling apart! Gonna have to get a new one soon (case, not phone. I'll wait until they come out with a slightly bigger screen).

Otterbox Defender for my Galaxy S4. It doesn't slide in/out of my pockets very easily, but after losing a phone to the Dana Point marina while jumping off a boat to tie it to a slip, I've grown to like the rubberiness.

Same thing happened to me. Traded in a iPhone 3 and a iPhone 4 to Gamestop. Both phones were in Otterboxes since day one. Both phones looked like they were brand new and never used. He was surprised how good both phones looked.

My current phone(Samsung Galaxy 3) is in a Otterbox commuter.

I have a Ballistic case on my Galaxy S3. It has been on the phone since I bought it.

I have momentary lapses of klutziness and drop things on occasion. My case has saved my phone several times over the past year. I can't imagine owning a phone without a case on it, especially not any of the Samsung phones that have screens that shatter if dropped from pocket height.

I have never broken a screen, but have dropped a few and added a scratch to my new Nextel i870 screen back when there were the bee's-knees of MP3 player phones.

Since starting with Nextels with awesome secure-hold PLASTIC belt-clips, I have never kept a phone in my pocket, and will find belt-clips for whatever Android I have. I don't do pouches, as those tend to make people not have a secure-grip of their phone when removing it from belt, just like a pocket.

I have had the Motorola Droid, Droid2, Epic 4g, Sidekick 4g, and Relay 4g and have found plastic belt-clips and covers to match for everything that you could get in a combo-deal with a case-cover. I tried a screen-protector once, and because it was so inefficient on a touch-screen I never did it again.

Plastic belt-clips FTW, and they are cheap, so you can generally buy them in lots of 2-3 at a time for like $12-$18 (2-3 complete case-covers and belt-clips) off of eBay.

Otterbox. I like the bulk feel to it and the surface makes a good grip. I've dropped my phone a couple times and if it wasn't for that case it would probably be broken.

If the rubber wears down or rips you can get cheap replacements off ebay and they work and feel exactly like the original.

my naked i phone would slide right out of my pocket if i sat down on something low like a curb or a park bench, especially wearing shorts. it only took a couple of times of me realizing it was not in my pocket and finding it right where i was sitting before i got an otter box. i dropped it a ton of times with the otter box it was always fine. i even dropped it into a full sink and it was fine

Life proof case all the way. My iPhone 5 has ended up spending the night in the bottom on a pool with no problems. The only draw back is the screen works off heat so typing underwater doesn't work so well.
