Default What's with Optics Planet????

What' with OpticsPlanet.com??

I placed an order for a scope and get an email later on saying they don't know when they're going to ship it... HUH???

So I call the customer service line and they say they are out of stock for the next couple weeks.

Why put it on the website then? Shouldn't it just say "out of stock" ???

Same here. 2nd order with DVOR and second time our of stock. Last time it took over 2 months and I gave up. My recent order for a scope said 1-2 weeks to ship. I called 2 weeks later to find out it is out of stock and expected at the end of September. I call BS, it will be another month.

I have had good luck with them, but I have also only ordered twice or three times so far. My only issue was an out of stock item that was not marked out of stock until a couple of days AFTER I placed the order. They contacted me and gave me an ETA with an option to cancel. I waited until part came in a few weeks later and all was well.

I use to order a lot from optic Planet...great prices and free shipping.

However, haven't ordered or visited their website since they changed their layout. It's just confusing searching for an item.

I suspect that they have had a recent breach in security. I ordered some stuff and shortly after I get a fraud alert from my cc. Basically someone in Illinois tried to buy $1k worth of stuff at Walmart, when that failed they tried to run $500, but that was rejected as well. It could all just be coincidence, but first time I've ever had to deal with fraudulent activity on any of my cc.

That's funny. I literally just got off the phone with OP about my order. I placed an order 3 weeks ago and it said it was available. The next day for fun I checked on the status online and it said it was back ordered. I called today to cancel and they said they couldn't tell if it was in stock and they'll have to get back to me. I've usually have great experiences with them, but this just has me perplexed.

Back before they redesigned the website I placed a few orders only to find them all backordered (they did not have the items) and there was no set date when they would get it. I called several times to inquire about status and the first questions reps always asked if I wanted to cancel. Haven't been back since.

I think I've placed 4 or 5 orders with Op & DVOR since May.

At best I've received partial orders with the remainder taking weeks to a couple of months to ship (they were not listed as back ordered).

I absolutely will not order anything else from them unless their price blows everyone else out of the water AND I can wait 2 months for the item.

Oh and sorry, but listing something as in stock & then after an order is placed offering to replace with something similar does NOT cut it.

Nothing new about it. They have a phone number. Use it.

OP is a great company that deals right. If this is a weakness in their business operations, just do business in a way to protect yourself and you'll find they are a fine vendor.

Placing phone orders with a real person (who checks real time inventory) makes optics planet a company in my "do business with them again" list.

I've made dozens of purchases from OP in the last few years. I have yet to have a bad experience. The few times when shipping times changed for whatever reason, I was promptly informed and offered alternative items or a more accurate ETA.

They run a good business IMO.

I've waited over 2 months for a Pelican gun case I purchased on line and then informed me they were out of stock. They have just shipped the case and they'll not be getting anymore of my business.

All must relax and take a deep breath. Due to the cost of doing business inventories are being kept at all time lows and will not improve until things turn around. All the vendors I deal with have lowered their inventory levels and just will not increase unless we give them a guarantee.

My experience has been good with Optics Planet. Not like their customer service is bad, you see the dude responding to the OP that fast?

They are fine, if you don't want to wait cancel the order with a full refund. I got the best deal of my life on a Steiner scope from Optics planet just a few months ago.

Look right under the "Add To Cart" button and you'll see the "Check Product Availability" link. It tells you if the product is in stock, if stock is low then how many they have on hand, and estimated business days to ship. I've been shopping there enough years (7-8) to know to never order from them without first checking stock just before pulling the trigger, and I have not been disappointed since I started doing that. Of course it's still possible for two people to order the last one at the same time.

So I called back today to follow up with my order (they told me yesterday they didn't know if my item was in stock or not). They charged my CC yesterday but their system still shows that it's not in stock. They told me to follow up on Monday and see if it will ship out. I'm trying to be patient, but this is just stupid now.

At this time, I'm unaware of anything like this happening, but please give our customer service a call at 800-504-5897 so we can make sure this didn't happen on our end!

You guys are forgetting how hard it was to find freakin .22 ammo a few months back? and do you think they are taking inventory 24/7? I can almost guarantee all of you with late orders made your order with very few items remaining for sale, and fell in between the time they ran out and the time they updated their inventory the next day. I just ordered a TLR-1 HL 3 days ago, shipped yesterday, suppose to arrive on Tuesday, and I have all faith it will be here. Look at the number of satisfied customers, look at AdamC and the OpticsPlanet guys on here giving you the phone numbers and handling it personally. Sounds like top notch service in this current crippled supply chain.

I have to tell you guys that after Adam got a hold of my situation, I received a phone call the same day from another representative and my package was outbound the next day.

Ideally, in my opinion my weird little issue should never of happened, but I'm good with the customer service I recieved after Adam got on board.

Would I buy from them again? If the deals are good, probably.

Well, my concerns are slightly different that the OP's, however just as concerning.

A friend referred me to their site after getting a great deal on a rifle scope-he really bantered back and forth with them!

I frequently searched their site for accessories and began to notice that each time I sought out a particular item, like XXXXXXXXX soft gun cases, the price would change on my next visit, and then again on my next visit! I can't tell you how many times this has occurred with various products!

How do they have enough time to take client orders, procure product and then package and ship to the client if they are CONSTANTLY spending time on changing their web prices?!?

Oh yeah, I get supply and demand fluctuations....but every day...twice a day... the price changes?!?! Ridiculous!

Customer Service is best when it is given properly at the beginning of a sales relationship, not at the end of it! We shouldn't expect anything less!

Optics planets site is lazily put together. Not only did it say instock, but I waited two months to find out the flip up sight set i thought i bought was actually just the front sight even though it said flip up sight set (no doubt a copy and paste job error from factory website) Wait was disappointing and result was disappointing, havent been back.

I got mind opinions about these guys. Offered a scope and rings, both showed in stock. No update for a week. I emailed to ask status and was told they see moving warehouse so might take longer. Gave them benefit of the doubt and waited another week. No updates so I email again. They say no estimate ship date due to the move so I ask to cancel (Note credit card has been charged for 2 weeks at this point). I get a shipping notice email in 15 minutes and shipping label generated. I'll let you guys make the judgement here. Good prices but business practice is questionable.

I too suffered from the not updated website. then I was told it would be back ordered a little while... then they told me that the product was discontinued and offered me a more expensive model.
Classy!

They are going to need one hell of a promo to get my cash again.
