Default $400 Kobra 1S-03 red dot sights /w free shipping

http://www.saiga-12.com/proddetail.asp?prod=EKP-1C-03

They have a few left in stock and the free shipping coupon expires tonight in an hour or so. I see them on Kalinka for $450 so I'm guessing this is an okay deal for a new one.

At 400... I'd get an aimpoint, eotech or vortex razor red dot instead for just a little more....

I think you're missing the point. Aimpoint, eotech, and vortex dots aren't russian, nor do they come with AK rail mounts.

The Kobra optic is a very fine piece of Russian equipment.
It gives you four options to choose from for a reticle, which the aimpoint and eotech do not. Not only that, but it gives it the original Russian look.

I have Aimpoints on some of my AKs, but those are on cantilever mounts off of an Ultimak gas block rail. If your weapon has a side rail, this is the way to go.

Like the other dudes said, it's all about trying to stay original or near/true to spec. I had an Aimpoint Comp M2 back in 2008ish and it was awesome but the Kobra is also quite sturdy and has more features - whether you use them or not is up to you, though.

These sights used to retail for around $150-$200 back in 2009. I regret not picking one up back then... if only we knew...

Mine was nib a few years ago...for ~$150 delivered.

Great sight and they aren't easily broken. Mine has been on 2 FAL's, a few AR's, and a shotgun. No issues other than making sure I have a spare battery or 3.

I'm blown away by current pricing. Still, well worth the money.

Kobras are awesome. Have several I bought from Tantal right after Y2K.
Paid around $100. Still working 14 yrs later. Make sure you swap out those AA batteries before they expire and leak.

Oh. Just a FYI..i hear there are Chinese KNOCKOFFs floating around the market.
