Default Securing a parachute for the boy scouts - So-Cal area

Parachute for the Boyscouts? (So-Cal region)

Hey guys, a coworker of mine, who is also a SGT in the reserves, has an entire rifle squad worth of kids, and most of them are enrolled in scouting. They are looking for a parachute in order to make a canopy for one of the Boy Scout assembly areas – it doesn’t matter what kind, cargo, personnel, civilian, military, etc. and it doesn’t have to have a harness, risers, or anything like that (just the canopy as far as I know) anyway, he figured “hey, you’re a paratrooper, do you know where we could find one?” and since we don’t live in Fayetteville, where the possibilities are endless, I was wondering if any of yall would be able to point me in the right direction. Not sure if they will have funds to try and buy one on the cheap, or if they are looking for a straight up donation to a good cause, but any info or help would be much appreciated.

Needless to say as a dirty "leg" when I first read this thread I had visions of Boy Scouts parachuting in to help old ladies cross the street and getting their scout parachute badges...good luck in finding one!

You might try Major Surplus. The last time I looked, they had numerous cargo chutes, in white, O/D green and camo.

Seen many 'chutes in military surplus stores for just that reason!

Let your fingers do the walking!

There used to be a NG Rigger Unit in Santa Barbra. I believe they were shut down in 09 but you could stop by that Armory and ask if anything was left behind.
