Default CCW Class

Who in Sac is a good place to go take a CCW class? Recommendation? Thanks for your time.

I used Wes and Joe out at Sac Valley.

I've seen similar questions asked in the LTC forum.

Default Ammo Depot

I booked my class at Ammo Depot in Folsom. Class was excellent. Sometimes split between two weekends to keep your entire weekend from being zapped. Private outdoor range was nothing fancy, but clean and shaded. Instruction was very detailed and covered much more than the basics and minimum requirements. Both locations were in El Dorado Hills. Highly recommended. Slight drive but worth it.

Once you take the class, how do you justify your need to CCW? Does carrying Rx meds for your disabled wife carry any weight?

Your ability to obtain your LTC is directly related to which county you call home.
My county, Sacramento, allows "self defense" as a valid justification for issuing LTC's. Other counties are almost impossible to qualify for a LTC.

Find your county in the LTC forum and read through some of your fellow CG'ers posts as they navigate the various counties issuance policies.

California Security Training Academy is the cheapest I found in the Sac area. Not the best training, but the cheapest. If you are experienced with firearms, and are willing to do a little additional research on the laws of the use of deadly force on your own then it is adequate. If you are new to guns, and the laws, probably one of the other classes and training may be more appropriate for you. CSTA is located in South Sac and qualifies at the Mangan Range.
