Default Girls and Gun Belts

Ladies! I've been on the hunt for a gun belt to carry and IWB and OWB holster. I don't want to look like a man in one, and therein lies the crux of the matter. Who carries and has had success with their gun belt being both lovely and functional?

Thanks!

Custom bronc nosebands and dog collars too (items are pending lining still).

This client has a grey horse and a dalmation.

Up for grabs - Medium Size (32-37), 1 1/2",
Cowhide belt in brown finish and snakeskin stamping. $70
I recommend a gold buckle on this rich color, but have silver as well.

I hate to rain on a parade but while those are beautiful belts I wouldn't call them gun belts.

A single layer of leather is not really strong enough to support a weapon correctly and will sag at the holster. You'll end up stretching the leather at that point and ruin a nice belt.

Gun belts are either double layer leather or reinforced to support the weight of the gun and holster without movement or sagging. Sagging also allows the butt of the gun to stick out from your body causing it to print through your covering garment. Being dual layered or reinforced also allows the belt to disperse the weight of the gun across both hips rather than at a single point. The other thing you'll notice with a single layer belt is that it will flex and stretch when drawing from the holster, a proper gun belt aids the draw by providing a solid and stable base.

I've carried everything from a J Frame S&W to a 1911 and an arming sword to a bastard sword hanging off of belts and ruined several regular leather belts before learning to buy one built to hold the weight.

Hello and Good Evening

It is true that to date the belts being posted are single layer. Where I custom build it is not problem to make them double thick, extra-wide, reinforced, or all 3. I have to serve my current clients who are buying for fashion, not guns. The pictures posted are intended to allow people to see pattern possibilities that can be then be adapted to their needs.

Chickshooter opted for a single layer belt as she felt it would be sufficient for the weight of her PCR while utilizing a DOH assembly. I apologize if there has been any confusion in the matter.

I did end up getting a gun belt from The Belt Man. It arrived yesterday, and is both stiff and beautiful. I'm just getting acclimated to wearing it and carrying my G19. So far, I'm not having a lot of luck with my current wardrobe. The butt of my gun seems to print in most outfits. I'm carrying IWB in a White Dog Holster. I'm still waiting for NV to issue my carry permit, so I'm only practicing around the house.

I'm sure I'll get this figured out but for now I feel overwhelmed and frustrated. I'm a very girly female, and I'm unwilling to compromise fashion - but I'm also a practical female who isn't inclined to forego function, either. Deep sigh. I'll keep trying...

I wanted a modern-looking belt and got the horsehide in 1.5 inches. I loved the undyed natural color with black stitching and black buckle. If I could do it again, I'd ask for another 2 inches of belt. I measured like they said. I use either the 2nd or 3rd notch, maybe that is best, but I just feel like I want it bigger.
