Just called. As an NRA licensed firearms instructor, this bill could affect my livelihood and I made that quite clear.

Good to hear that it's not all "smooth sailing" as many pessimists predicted. There is still a long road ahead and this is by no means final, but seeing an internal, for the lack of better word, rift, is very encouraging. This is especially true since AB 180 (Oakland exemption of preemption) is one of the "milder" bills on the table.

I like how Hueso is honest and lists "Anti-gun/ammunition regulation" as an issue.

Latest Info: 09/06/2013 - Today, AB 180 passed the Senate 21 YES to 15 NO.

AB 180 (Bonta) repeals state firearms preemption by allowing the City of Oakland to enact ordinances that are more restrictive than state laws concerning the registration or licensing of firearms.

LAWS concerning the registration or Licensing of Firearms........ Agh agh agh... Ummmmm. Wasn't, aware that criminals registered their Firearms....

Is the preemption repeal conditional to only more restrictive laws, or can you repeal to revert to say the federal statutes?

I want to say the preemption gives us uniform laws in regards to gun laws in the state. if we lose preemption many cities and counties could enact very restrictive laws and affect anyone traveling through.
