Default Just an Idea: Who's down for Torrance Shoot and Noodles Sept 14/15?

Ramen Foodie Event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPHuNLcBcq0

There's a firing range sorta nearby! http://www.socalsharpshooter.com/range

Who's down, and what time is best? We should eat after the shoot, that way the sake/beer can flow a bit freely.

Just two small weeks ago I meandered into SoCalSS and asked Yumi just that question, how would it be?
Good luck with that, says she. It's usually a madhouse on weekends.
And I got the impression she wasn't about to offer any reserved lanes, special discounts, and free ammo, like I would need if I were to go.
So.
Let me know what the details are. And a good perhaps I will be there.

I'm figuring on a small group, and just meandering in for an hour with 2 or 3 lanes. Will count on a bit of a wait. But still gauging interest.

I haven't been there in about fifteen years. Nothing but bad experiences the last few times I was there.

I've been to Sharpshooter two months ago twice. It's a dump compared to the newly remodeled LAX Range, but I didn't have a bad experience. Pretty decent actually, aside from one of the guys working there telling me that H&K's are unreliable.

But I vastly prefer LAX.

That said, barring schedule conflict, I'm in for the Ramen at the very least.
My favorite ramen nearby is Yamadaya.

Yum Ramen! I would go for that.

As far as shooting, I vote for LAX > Sharpshooters

There IS a Shinsen Gumi Hakata Ramen shop nearby on Redondo Beach Blvd in Gardena.

But to keep this topical, I'm planning on hitting up the Ramen Yokocho Festival at the Torrance Cultural Center.

Was figuring on dumping a few mags of ammo first at Sharpshooter's. Perhaps Saturday or Sunday, early? And then grabbing a bowl or two of ramen @ the festival for a late lunch.

Anyone else up for this?

Sharpshooters is a lot closer to Torrance Cultural Center.

A few pistol mag dumps sounds like fun. Shoot first, eat later, ask questions never.

I'm supposed to bail my new HK45c out next week.

mrsfunnybookz and I may be interested! I lived off of nothing but Top Ramen for three meals a day for six months during art school. Haven't had any since. I'm guessing this is different... and much better. I got VERY sick during that time.

Excellent, I propose either an early morning shoot followed by a late lunch or a early morning brunch followed by a early afternoon shoot, for Sunday, 15 Sept.

I think shooting before eating (like LAX + Roscoe's) is the way to go.

I live about 7 minutes away from the range and maybe 15 minutes from Torrance Civic Center. I'd go for shooting first and eating/drinking later. Sharpshooter is dirty and the target holders were pretty much past their prime last time I was there but the folks behind the counter were nice enough. It is crowded on weekends tho...

Sharpshooters is Pistol caliber only, BTW.

Just shot there today to pop my HK45c's cherry. No air conditioning inside the actual shooting area for some reason, even though the waiting room area was. WTF. Was sweating like crazy.

I know sharpshooters is small but I thought you get a rifle card you can shoot long guns. Besides I just wanted to see it again. I just bought two complete lowers and I haven't decided what to do with them yet.

^ I've seen folks in there with .223 and .308 before. I think you have to take some sort of class with them before they'll allow it. Shotguns are fine. The place was an oven today and the lighting isn't the best so get your targets wherever you get them cheapest and bring plenty of bright orange stickers so you can see what the @$#%@#% you're shooting at. The place was roasty toasty earlier today and the target holders on some of the hangers are gone. The place needs work. Range fees were $16.00. Still, it beats being stuck on the 405 or PCH if you're in the Torrance-Lomita-San Pedro-Carson area.

Oh, and the guys at the counter were nice enough.

that old guy is a character hahaha

I asked him, can I buy a target? his exact words are "really? I'm here to sell ****"
with the most dafuq look on his face LOL

but yeah, that range really does need work

I think it's frangible only if they allow you to shoot rifle caliber.

But I could be wrong.

The target hangers are super ghetto. They're coat hangers with binder clips. You have to wait for your target to stop swinging back and forth. Unless you want to practice hitting a moving target.

But it's a shorter drive for me, so I go there occasionally. But honestly, I usually just save up for Monthly shoots at LAX with you guys. Much more fun.

Yeah, I've been to So Cal Sharpshooters before to do a PPT for a handgun and also shot it there when I picked it up, and it's pretty ghetto compared to LAX nowadays. I would be down to meet at LAX at some point and go for ramen afterwards. My 2 cents.

Isn't the monthly LAX shoot around the same time? I prefer middle of the week, so much less crowded. Pretty sure Sharpshooters is going to be pretty crowded on the weekend. I'm most certainly going to the Ramen Festival, though, even if I don't go to Sharpshooters.
