Finally got some time to hit the range. After having a gas issue last time i fully dissasembled the bolt carrier an noticed had some crud between the carrier and gas key.

Cleaned it off, scraped the key clean and put a small layer of red locktite between the carrier and gas key, tightened to spec, and field staked it.

Got to lytle creek and the rifle ran titty! Actually kinda surprised me! Lit off 120rds and called it a day.

Now to finish rifle numero dos!

Why did you have to get a shim kit for the XTC. Were you not able to time the comp correctly? The crush washer that comes with the XTC are designed to crush 360 degrees.

I was having timing issues mounting it. So i bought the shim kit to get the timing correct.

I thought I was having trouble with my XTC as well. I sent Rainier an email and they told that the crush washer can turn 360 degrees. That fixed my little problem.

Looks good.

I would have replaced the gas key screws.

If they were previously torqued, they're pretty much junk.

Those screws are only good for one stretch.

I would ditch that rear sight for something a little more compact, unless you really need elevation adjustment.

You will be amazed at how much lighter your rifle will feel, I had an LMT rear sight on my M4 for a while but replaced it with a Troy fixed sight and it made a huge difference.

Oh i definitely replaced the key screws. Last thing I wanted was that carrier to come apart in my face. Plus they're so cheap i had bought 10 of them.

Funny...ive been eye balling the troy irons lol!
