Default M&P10 Free Float Barrel

I know generally speaking that free floating the barrel will help improve accuracy.

However, it seems that out of the box the m&p10 is already very accurate. I'm shooting sub moa with match ammo out of the box.

So for those of you that have free floated the barrel on your m&p10, did you see any real difference in accuracy?

Accuracy may not go up, but consistency likely will

I wish mine was that accurate-What kind of ammo does it like-best I can do is 2 moa with Federal match ammo out of a vice at 100yds going to try a better trigger.I shoot 3 shot groups with a couple minutes between shots and use a leupold vxr scope.

Mine seems to really like federal gold metal match 168gr and also privi 168gr match. It shoots decent with freedom munitions 168gr, bit less consistent around 1-2moa.

I shoot 5 shot groups off the bench with a bipod. Have a primary arms 4-16x44 scope

Current armalite style is based of the M14 magazine and is not compatible with the DPMS - KAC etc etc style

Yes, pmags work if you can find them...i know there was someone selling them in the calguns marketplace.

The pmags that fit are the SR25, they are 20 rounders. Best bet is finding someone that will send it as a rebuild kit and then buy the magblocks to turn them into 10 rounders. "most" parts on the m&P10 are DPMS style compatible. I don't believe magpul makes an armalite AR-10 style compatible mag.

The effects of free floating a barrel will become apparent in the consistency of the groups at extended ranges.

Often times, a free floated barrel will maintain its accuracy better when hot than a non free floated.
