As far as I can tell, one needs a car to get to an outdoor range here in Humboldt County. I don't have a car.

I live in Orange County and would like to know of some good somewhat local blm/desert spots. I'd even be down to go shooting with someone. I have been shooting since a little kid and am not one of those sign shooting yayhoos. PM me if you are willing to let me in on some spots. Thanks!

Hello. I'm new to the forum, but I've been around guns enough to know how to be safe, and respectful of the area I'm shooting in. I'm in Sac too, and looking for somewhere closer than places like Spenceville. I've been told (like the previous poster) that there might be something between Davis and Sac along the canal. If anyone knows about that, or another local spot, please let me know, either here, or in a private message. I'd be glad to do anything reasonable you might request in order to verify that I'm not some gang-banger or idiot who will ruin it for everyone.

My free range is Los Altos Rod & Gun Club because I purchased a lifetime membership 10 years ago. Now I intend to shoot for free another 10 or twenty, then give the membership to my son. HI Steve!

Buy in to your favorite place to shoot. Support the place with your labor.

Any places in Amador, Calaveras or San Joaquin counties? I was at Campo Seco yesterday to check it out but it doesn't look like it has been used in quite awhile. Is it open or closed? PM me or post is fine.

I've seen a couple of posters ask about San Diego. I'd be interested in finding an outdoor place also - the fiance and I shoot at ranges, however, she really wants to shoot "stuff" - stuff we'd clean up, of course - cans and stuff. If you could PM a place, I'd appreciate it. I've seen some way south, but South Bay Rod & gun club, but would like some place more central...

thank you!

Go up the 15 toward barstow. Fifteen mile before Barstow is Hodge Rd. Get off and go west over the freeway. You'll see all the trash where everyone shoots. Don't go on a weekend and don't go alone.

Hodge Road is a Shotgun only area, and only on the west side. east side is OHV offroad area. CHP frequent the area and people dump trash.

Much of the BLM land is opened to shooting in the Barstow area. There is a BLM Field Office on Barstow road, HWY 247, go East off of I-15 for about 1 mile and the BLM Office is there on the north side, across from the college, and they will direct you to areas and rules and I think you can also get maps. There are 2 BLM offices, don't go to the Mojave Preserve office as I believe there is no shooting in the preserve except during hunting season. Where every you go shoot, pick up some of the other trash and haul it out with you and ask others to do the same so we all look good.

Not sure what kind of shooting range are you looking for. Bench and table or just plinking shooting. You are welcome to come to Hobart Mills and shoot and do some clean up with us.

Thanx.

My son-in-law and son, showed me a place in Lake Elsinore, close to the Outlet Mall at the Nicholas offramp off the 15 freeway. People were driving cars up there, but I'd recommend a truck, because it's off a dirt road that is not maintained from what I can tell.

That's a little closer to me, however, there are so many dirt roads off of Nichols Rd. Any idea of further info?

Thank you,

Hodge road off the 15 has been my spot for years. I go about a mile back then off some other little road to this spot that is surounded by hills. I never had any troubles there shooting all types of guns (rifles, pistols & shotguns) But the place is messy so please pack out what you bring in. Thanks

Anything near the Stanislaus or Tuolumne Rivers in the BLM's Mother Lode area? Red Hills is near Don Pedro, but explicitly bans target shooting or discharging of firearms.

The general Mother Lode/Folsom field office won't recommend any areas to shoot. I'm sure there are some, and would love it if someone shared. I love hiking, camping, and always leave areas cleaner than I find them and pack out all my trash.

So. California guys:

Berdoo Canyon is designated BLM land for shooting for the local desert area.
Located off Dillon Road, north of the I10 Freeway. It's about 25 minutes east of Palm Springs.

http://goo.gl/maps/nhqWl

Gets pretty warm during the summer time, so best to go early morning.
